life imitating cyberlife

I have started using the acronym "lol" in conversation rather than actually laughing or chuckling or what have you.

Does that strike anyone as an oddball affectation? I'm wondering if it might be less so if I used fingerquotes when I said, "l-o-l". Thoughts?
