I don't go to lgf because I can feel the site actually making me stupider as I read it, but the question of the staged Qana photos has received considerable attention from the (mostly conservative) crowd at the Volokh Conspiracy lately. The most recent post is here, and if you look at the bottom of it you'll see links to other related posts. If you read the comments to those posts, you'll see that I said something like what I'm about to say here a few days ago there.
Certainly there's no problem with photos being "staged," right? American politicians stage photos all the time.

you're right. bush holding the fake turkey is exactly equal to AP publishing photos of dead kids that were posed to increase the horror-value.
how many photos of dead Israeli kids are we seeing? you realize Hezbollah is actually aiming at Israeli citizens right?

If the kids were dead, but Hezbollah made sure the lighting was right, what's the problem? If the kids were mannequins, that's a problem. If the "rescue worker" was really a long-time Hezbollah veteran, but Israeli bombs killed a lot of civilians, were the pictures so misleading? I'm not saying the photos were categorically OK, but lots of things are "staged".

You're suggesting that Israeli's PR is not as competent as the IDF?
In a lot of countries other than our own, it is fairly routine to see graphic pictures of the victims of war. We didn't see many dead Iraqi citizens in 2002 and 2003 -- does that mean they weren't dying?

Does saying stupid shit and not reading work for you in the practice of law?

I hope the above is a result of your conversation with Hank being an inherently dumbed down one. Otherwise I find it disturbing. There is no rationale for what Hezbollah did with these kids. They bear full responsibility and its absolutely unqualifiedly unconditionally abhorrent. Please get out of the grey zone and show yourself for the morally upright humanitarian I know you are.
It's either us or them, Ty.

As a service to the board, could you please list the socks that weren't yours? I think that would be fastest.
Thanks!

That post I of mine that I linked to -- pointing out that Hezbollah has been targeting Israelis -- came about an hour after you professed ignorance of what I said in the past and three minutes after you posted on the same topic, so you can see why I didn't need acid to think you might have read it.

Put the kids in the building and then made the building a target in order to dupe the Israeli's into bombing what seemed like a legit target and in the process take out the kids. Don't be naive.

So I've read some of this stuff but not all of it, and I'm having a hard time sorting out what DID happen. Is it that:
* Israel hit an adjacent building, and the building with the kids soon collapsed thereafter. Hezbollah then staged photos of the actually dead kids to maximize outrage.
or
* Israel's actions didn't even lead to the death of the kids. Hezollah killed their own people. Oh, and then staged photos of the dead kids.
or
* Kids are still alive, and the whole thing was staged.
I'm happy to stipulate that it's us against them, and my God, but they're evil fuckers and we're gonna bomb them into oblivion, but since you're speaking with some confidence about there being "no rationale for what Hezbollah did with these kids," I was hoping you could let us know what it was they did do, so I can set my outrage meter appropriately.
Thanks in advance!
Gattigap

Sure, probably. When I go Syrah, which is often, I usually go Washington Syrah (or Aussie Shiraz). Last night we had mexican, sts, and the food seemed like a good match for a zin.
