No disrespect to the genius of Robert Guillaume (and even though his character was in a position of some influence, which was rare back then), I watched Benson because of Kraus, much like I watched the Jeffersons for Florence.
But back then, there weren't exactly tons of shows with or whole networks dedicated to black folk.

I spent far too long looking at this post, trying to figure out what "networds" means. Well done, TM.

I'm curious as to how the producers choose to portray Harriet over the long haul. Because I haven't seen another character like this in a major role, I imagine it is for me something like a black person might have been curious how some of the early major black characters would be written.
And I don't think you really understood what I originally said (or who I am) if you thought there was any similarity continuity from the reaction to the crazy Christian skit on the show to my thoughts about this show. I think some Christians (real or purported) do some stupid stuff that deserves to be mocked. Because of that I used to love the Church Lady skit on SNL.
If this is a major whiff, my apologies.

Jesus Christ, Lord our God on High! I was fucking joking. I don't give a shit about the character or the fact that you will be watching very closely how they write for her.
And Christian programming is all over the place. I know because I have to change the channel real fast when I flip past any of that crap so my eyes don't burn to a crisp.

So, welcome. Tell us a few things about yourself by answering the following:
Patrick Roy or Martin Broduer?
Liz Phair or Ani DiFranco?
Favorite Hogan sidekick -- Newkirk or LeBeau?
Fill in the blank: "Reality TV is __________."
Ashley or Charlize?
True or false: The NFL will never give a franchise back to Southern California because of stupid team names like "The Los Angles Angels of Anaheim" and "The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim."
What inspired the delurking?
Penske looks like which following character from WKRP in Cincinnati: (a) Herb Tarlek; (b) Dr. Johnny Fever; (c) Venus Flytrap; or (d) Andy Travis.

So many questions, so little time...
Hockey-related question: As a red state-native where the word "hockey" was seldom, if ever, uttered, I am probably unqualified to express a preference as between these two fine gentleman. Since I am unaffiliated, which one would be a better choice?
I have to go with Liz. Ani has potential, but Liz is, well, Liz. She reminds me of this girl from high school that I had a little "thing" for.
A choice for LeBeau will probably get me into trouble over on the PB, Frenchy-type guy that he was, but I think I'll have to go with him. The inescapable connection between Richard Dawson and bad family game shows probably killed his chances with me.
Apologies in advance to BB, etc. fans: "Reality TV is mostly a complete waste of time." I might make an exception for Discovery Channel type shows, however.
I assume that I do not get to choose both Ashley and Charlize, right?
NFL in LA: True.
Why put in an appearance now? Why not? Fringey had a question I thought I could help with? Temporary lapse in judgment?
If I had to pick a WKRP personage for Mr. Penske, I would have to go with Dr. Johnny Fever. They seem like they would be sympatico.
How's that?

Normally I am all for the grilled veggies (and I'm glad those were added instead of, say, some dead animal), but this combination does not go together at all.
I blame rp.

Quite frankly, neither do green apples and red onions. I'm just saying. They probably thought, enh, she'll never notice.
Besides, people making minimum wage could give a fuck what you want. I don't think they even read the tickets that say "under no circumstances put onions or mayo on this."

You must not eat many veggie sandwiches. Green apple and red onion go quite well together actually. The main point of the sandwich is the raw veggie (and fruit) thing. So most raw fruits and veggies would work. Green apples (raw) do not go well with cooked squash, etc., however. In any event, it was a cook mistake, not an order-taker mistake, because she wrote it down right in front of me. I did not tip, but they would not know that when I ordered, as there is no payment prior to getting the food. In fact, there was not even a tip jar when I did pay.

1. I agree that green apples and red onions can go together. E.g. as ingredients in a salad that also features small bits of cooked dead bird. 2. However, your sandwich is not for me because I don't like cucumbers. I probably would have liked what you got better than what you ordered.
How did you alter? I would think taking out the apple slices and eating them separately would work OK.

Green apple goes exceptionally well with roasted dead pig and gargonzola. I'd recommend that for your next sammich.

I took out the cooked veggies. So it ended up like my original idea, but without the cukes, and a bit skimpy on the other ingredients. Still quite tasty though.
