Am I missing something? Where's the corruption? It's a sex scandal.
If you wanted to talk about corruption, we could talk about William Jefferson.

A positive electoral trend
The link isn't working. Does it say that when I visit my mom, I won't have to drive 45 minutes round trip to pick up some beer?

It's Clinton's fault that Foley was trying to bang 16-year old boys, and R leaders knew about it but did nothing (except promote Foley)?
Somehow, it all makes sense.

No, not Billy Jeff. Former Representative William Jefferson
But you do have a point about the societal acceptability of flirting with interns occasioned by one William Jefferson Clinton.

I have endorsed him because he is running against a Democrat and I am in a leadership position of the Republican party. Its all academic because he is in a safe Republican seat. However, I would like to see him replaced by another Republican. And that will happen if he is indicted.

Spanks, when you going to realize the R party doesn't really want you, anyways?

They don't want me, but I want in. I am like the loser that wants to join the fraternity that is a legacy. They don't want me in but they pretty much have to let me in.

It is my understanding that after the election and probably in January there is going to be a whole slew of inditements against sitting congressmen. The majority will have an R after their names.

I imagine that the congressional subpeona will get quite a workout in January.

Irrelevant. Soliciting sex with minors over the internet is a federal crime, a law drafted in part by Foley.

Congress kept the Government from coming under COBRA. Maybe the law doesn't apply to Congress- someone check- it would have been a pretty smart way to cut down on competition.

I wonder if he was part of that Justin Berry scandal from a few months ago. My understanding was that Berry named close to a thousand people when he started working with the FBI, complete with credit card information. I imagine that the ensuing investigation led to a lot more people.

Pssst. Hank. I think you mean COPPA. Unless you're talking about keeping your insurance one you leave your job. Which I think is probably another thing that Mr. Foley needs to worry about.

I don't know. Is that relevant when a Congressman is soliciting a kid who lives in Louisiana?
Interestingly, a number of Rs on this board have argued that Clinton's blow job from Monica Lewinsky constituted rape because of his position of power over her. I would disagree -- she was a college grad, of legal age for basically anything, and being star-fuck-struck doesn't equal being a rape victim.
But a 16-yo boy does present a different problem. Not that the Rs here are rushing to point it out, of course.
eta: All that said, it is my sincere hope that Rs -- here and everywhere -- will stand on the "age of consent in DC" argument. Please, Spanky -- make it happen. 'twould be another triumph for the willfully dim-witted.

I have no problem with flirting with interns, or even fucking them. If Foley -- an unmarried, apparently gay man -- had openly dated an adult, I'd be fine with that, assuming that he was not at the same time openly railing against people who conduct themselves like he does.
But Mr. "protect the children" was stalking 16yos. A little different, don't you think?
But, your point about William Jefferson was an excellent one. It's okay for Rs to stalk little boys because, after all, a former D took a bribe.
