Project Runway Finale

I wasn't even all that impressed with Jeffrey's collection. I think Uli would have won it hands down if she would have swapped out the fabric on the last couple of dresses for fabric complementary to the palate she had early in her collection. I really loved her collection, but the ending was not as strong as the beginning. The sad thing is all the judges seemed to love it except for Michael Kors. She will do fine though. She will open her boutique in Miami (if it isn't already open) and have huge call volume/internet sales based on the publicity she received from the show. She is one of the most wearable designers that the show has ever had.

With respect to the over budget thing, didn't something similar happen last season with the shoes for Santino's (I think) collection. I don't recall exactly what happened, but I remember him getting in trouble and still being permitted to show. I think that the producers think that not allowing a designer to show in the finale is overly punitive unless a major infraction that is not curable occurs.

What was up with the music during the runway shows? It totally sucked and I can't believe that the designers were allowed to choose their music because there is no way in hell that Jeffrey would have picked that shit. His models seemed almost dead walking down the runway and I think that affected my opinion of his collection.

Michael was disappointing. Laura was (IMO) a bit boring. But, as Heidi noted, her dresses were beautiful. All hail Queen Uli.

ETA: I think that the shoe thing was that Santino (?) had a friend make him custom shoes to go with his collection and his friend charged him nowhere near what the shoes would cost (now it is coming back to me). Gunn said it was against the rules and the shoes had to go, but Santino was still allowed to present. I think the judges were informed too. Sort of analogous, I think. I do agree that the judges should have penalized Jeffrey for the infraction, and I do recall it being discussed, but apparently they didn't think it was a serious enough problem to keep him from winning. I think that they were wrong, but what can you do? Stupid fucking Michael Kors with his anti-Uli bias.
