I didn't read those - just started fresh. Sorry, now I've quoted you, and it'll be a troll fest.

My copy of the Bible tells me:
- 9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.
10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:
11 They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.
12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.
13 These shall ye wear in Fenway Park: the white uniforms that sayeth "Red Sox" across the front.
14 And these shall ye wear in other parks: the grey uniforms that sayeth "Boston" across the front, and that beareth a sur-name on the shoulders.
15 The red uniforms shall be an abomination unto you, and ye shall avert your eyes from them even if the bearer tithes to the Jimmy Fund.
16 Of all the headwear that is colored not blue or red, that shall be an abomination unto you, especially that headwear colored green.
Leviticus 11:9-16

Ryo-jitsu
Speaking of exhorbitant expenditures, this weekend I had a Ryo-jitsu treatment which consists of three steps:
1. Balance on this contraption called a "body-exerciser" which jiggles you a million times a minute while you are trying to balance.
2. Take a 20 minute nap on a bed of hot rocks and sweat like you've never sweated before.
3. Shiatsu massage, which is good-tortuous and then another nap in a water blanket, which is like a duvet filled with water that they wrap around you and you feel as if you are floating on a cloud.
It was awesome. The therapist told me I would probably feel hungry over the weekend (I did this on Friday night). I think I ate about 5 steaks over the weekend. But my lingering cold is gone and I feel a few inches taller. I would recommend (unfortunately you can only get it done at one place in the country, in NYC, but it is also big in Japan, if you happen to be there).

I like this.
By the way, is there a World Series on? I've kind of lost track since Carlos left the bases loaded.

Oh for Crissakes. For how many years now will I be the troll? I started posting in my 20s I'm in my 30s and Less and Company are edging into their 40s. We'll be geriatric and people will still be being admonished for "feeding the troll" '
First, I was a sock, then I was real and now I'm possibly a ploy in the grand scheme of TM's imagination.

You know, I was having a conversation just the other day about people who will hear 10 other people make the same comment to them and still dispute it holds any truth. I'm sure I don't need to tell you what the therapist involved in the conversation thought of that.
But anyway, in case it isn't clear, the confusion seems to lie in the fact that you say you are working 7 days a week for the rest of the year, in large part "for the children," yet it is also apparently for high-end accoutrements. There is nothing inherently wrong about appreciating quality. There is, however, something unappealing about substituting the latest, most expensive trendy buy for an understanding either of true quality or of whether it is appropriate to slave away as you choose to do in order to afford such trendy things. And the thing is, if you keep your mental orientation toward all those things really best afforded by my Junior League buddies with a nanny for each kid slumming it in a 2500 SF'er a bit too far East while the 7-floor brownstone on 78th between Madison and Park is gutted, then you will never, ever be able to have a realistic grip on what is a good idea or not for you. And having this or that flashy or even just fancy-but-known-only-to-you (and your imaginary friends) thing doesn't actually make you any better or worse than the other soccer mom in the three-year-old Orvis to your quilted Burberry. My point is, yes, you deserve to look nice and feel nice, but it's the blindness of "if it's more expensive, then it must be better" that is juvenile and social-climbing of the worst sort.

I am pretty sure there is an exception if you actually purchase that headwear at the actual spring training Saint Patrick's Day game.
(I once cross examined a Boston Police Officer who told me that to his knowledge, March 17th was not a holiday. The judge, who was well-known as a drunk (and had a Mc at the beginning of his name) snorted heartily.)

Ha. WTF is that anyway? During my college years, I was no stranger to that skating extravaganza in support of it - but I'm still not really sure what it is.

Oh GOD I'm cranky. I'm not a social climber. My kids are in public school. I do not obsess about living in Greenwich or Pound Ridge. I do not freak about the "right" pre school.
I am not a trend chaser. Some of my clothes are 7 years old. I buy quality and I bargain shop.
I have been open with posters on this board about our financial reasoning....yes, some expensive things are perks but I do not work any more or less than any of the associates here on deals. And not that it is anyone's business the bulk of the money goes to expenses. It really is that simple.
