I doubt that, but now I'm curious. What do you think you are now?

Not sure about that one. I'm not a 2.5 tho. Definitely not a 10.

I think you hear what you want to hear and see reactions in people that you wish they were having. (And, psst, it's because you're delusional.)
When someone asks if you're married to a banker, it's because they want to know why you never stfu about bankers.
When partners, female or male, appear annoyed with you, it's because you said something overwhelmingly stupid.
In your case, no one is drawing lines in the sand over your clothes. They're drawing lines in the sand because they want to limit their exposure to you because (and I'm sure they all talk about this one behind your back) if they don't, you will think they are your best friend ever.

You keep talking like you are being unfairly picked on. Do you really think this is true? Do you think people pick on you because I said you are a 2.5? Do you think people pick on you because you are a paralegal? Or do you think people pick on you because you are a stupid, delusional lunatic?

That is unbelievably ridiculous and yet - so compelling. I think I'd ride in it and wave to people on the freeway.

That isn't entirely true. I have a little less respect for you when the sweater tied around your neck is part of an expensive set that you bought solely for the purpose of sweater-neck-tying.

On a related note, I qualified for Boston (barely) yesterday. Since Chicago is such a late race, I'm in for 2007 or 2008. Penske probably won't want to wait until 2008, though, since I think that's the year he turns 50. Of course, he has to qualify first.

Sincere response: Congratulations Coltrane -- that's fantastic.
Wise-ass response: Way to go. If ever I need someone to run 26.2 miles fast, you're my guy.

Point Balance
Do people actually rate themselves? Stand in front of a mirror and say, hmm, I guess I'd give myself a 7.3? It just seems really weird. I look in the mirror and think "nice zit" or "my, your forehead is looking big today" or "that tricep is looking a little flabby" but a point balance? It's very "piece of meat"-like.

How do you switch back and forth like that so quickly and effortlessly? It's freaky.

My law school roomie was a genius. He could have and should have gone to work for the Howard Stern show doing phony phone calls and goofing on people. He was way ahead of his time. In the Fall of 1990, he spent most of his nights dialing in to Larry King's radio show, just to goof on him. I hope he still has the collection of his calls, because the cumulative effect is hilarious.
Anyways, on one of his best efforts, he assumed a fairly (but not absurdly) snooty voice, and started the call with "Larry, I go to Yale. What do you think of that?"
Now he's toiling in obscurity in southern Oregon.
