Already done!

I'll probably wait until Tuesday to file it.

I'm typing up my complaint now (which is why I needed help with that particular definition). A lawyer with a lot of extra time on her hands is probably not someone you want to start a conflict with.
You're like my husband only much worse. He has 1 year of law school at night and all he does is write what essentially becomes personal cease and desist type emails to the sports coaches and the school system. Oh god. Too much time on one's hands is the enemy.

it's good to know the kids have a solid caring support base at home.

I am so glad I am done coaching kids.

She's like your husband except that she is licensed to practice law.

His coach *IS* a small time lawyer, politician type, good schools though...and he *freaked* when he saw the email and how it was written he knew *exactly* where he was going with that. Within hours they had a huge pow wow about it. Huddle of coaches and my husband.

Really? I'm like your husband? Only much worse? Interesting. I suppose I ought to start checking receipts a little more carefully, then.

ETA: Often "too much time on one's hands" is not really your worst enemy.

No personal offense intended wrt your husband, but I *hate* when people get legalistic about everyday disputes. A bona fide complaint (of the lawsuit sort), sure when necessary, but I hate the specter of litigation people haul out for things that should just be dealt with in informal ways. Or dropped. I know, I'm a bad lawyer in this way, maybe.

NO, I'm actually WITH you on that one, I hate his approach. But I grudgingly accept that he gets/nets results.

Football. My kid and the partially deaf kid were not played as much as he wanted or expected. Not sure if his expectations were valid, or not. husband's point to them is the only way kids will learn to play is if they are put in. He pulled the race and disability card. Both children play a lot more as a result. My son starts and the other kid [deaf] as well. But they told hubby point blank. lOok. the deaf kid is not your child. stay out of it.

I've pulled out the legal guns on personal issues about twice during the last dozen plus years of practice - each time when pushed WAYYYYY past the limit. It sounds like you've done about the same. Obnoxious, yes, but sometimes you do it.

OTOH, should it surprise any of us that she married a troll?

Now, that I think of it, the only time I've gone that route was with a builder for a large-scale house renovation. In that case, it was actually a relative joy finally to talk to the lawyer an dwork out a settlement arrangement, as the builder was completely insane and irrational (even going so far once to blame a crazed blow-up about something on weight-loss medication he was taking).

I have never sued, or threatened to sue anybody. Well, except when my son wasn't getting enough time on the ice for his hockey team - but that's legit, right?

No. Not at all.

People do it, they use whatever legal training they have when they're pushed to the brink, or backed into a corner.
