*sigh* how is something less discrete, and how would that relate to posting volume?

Paisley, the beer I was drinking was non-Belgian, even. It may be Belgian-style. The Chimay glass is smaller than the glasses they serve, e.g., Pabst Blue Ribbon in. Aside from some very expensive items at the bottom of the menu, all of the beers are the same price.

True.

Seems a little gimicky to me. Although the beer is pretty good. Then again, I can't recall having a bad belgian beer.

Well then perhaps Flower did err. I think you may have ruined my day.

Maredsous. I am not such a fan of this Belgian beer. But I like all the other ones I have tried. In addition to Piraat, I also recommend Gulden Draak. That stuff will make you reconsider the way in which your physical earthly presence interacts with what you perceive to be reality.

I only get a green star if I make you throw up. Have you vomited?

No, no. It is I who have ruined your day. Despite your extremely generous reading of my post, it was an error, and I deserved the mockery I received from fringey. I apologize to you. I am embarrassed enough about the error as human being, but am triply embarrassed in my role as Chair of Newber Attraction and Retention.

I am going to take a little time away from the boards now. I need to just think about some things.

Not recently, I'm afraid.

Who's giving out green stars and what do I have to do to get one? Do I have to make someone throw up, too?

Not. Safe. For. Work.

Fort Lauderdale Florida's hottest gay leather/levi bar.

Quick question...what is a levi bar?

Fringy, you should try the white beer. It's Belgian, called Ho-something.

Do you mean Hoegarden (sp?). I thought that was Dutch.

Gold Stars are handed out for outstanding contributions to board productivity. For example, Coltrane should get several retroactive gold stars for some of his t&a efforts of the past few weeks.

Red Stars are handed out for valiant efforts to contribute to board productivity.

I don't know who is handing out green stars -- maybe fringey just awards them to herself.

It was. Originally.

Towards the end of the 2nd World War the Belgian brewing industry was almost destroyed as the German troops looted most of the breweries for anything valuable. In 1957 the last witbier brewery in Hoegaarden closed. Pierre Celis established his brewery in 1966, giving birth again to the old style Belgian wheat beer wit. In 1978 he built a bigger brewery named De Kluis. After a fire at the brewery in 1985 Pierre got financial help from the Artois breweries (Interbrew from 1987). In 1989 Mr. Celis retired, sold his brewery to Interbrew and left for Austin, Texas. In 1992 he opened up a new wheat beer brewery called the Celis Brewing Company.

In 2004 Interbrew merged with Brazilian Ambev to form Inbev and De Kluis was then part of the world’s biggest brewing group. On November 30 2005, InBev announced a restructuring of their Belgian organisation under which the Hoegaarden brewery would close and operations would be moved to Jupille. The beer Julius would no longer be brewed at all. This sparked protests from Hoegaarden locals, upset at the loss of the town's most famous symbol. In December 2005 it was decided to close the Hoegaarden brewery and move the production of the beers to the Jupille brewery in southern Belgium. Brouwerij de Kluis is often just called Hoegaarden due to its former location and the name of the famous beers.

My favorite part -- Hoegaarden tradition states that the first Hoegaarden of the day must be finished in three gulps. The amount taken-in during the first and second gulp is of no concern as long as the third gulp completes the pint. (Source: The Thirsty Traveler)

Ugh. Hoegaarden. There's a belgian beer I don't like.
