Wow. There are 2 McDonalds within a block of one another on Market, and they're both line-out-the-door at all hours.

There are a lot of eyebrows raised about the fact that there's a Medical Center wide smoking ban, yet there's a McDonalds in between Texas Children's and St. Luke's.

I would be surprised if there wasn't a strong correlation.

Ditto in Dallas. The only food to get at Parkland Hospital is McDonald's.

I was involuntarily paced by the girl in front of me with the great ass.

Sure, because tubbos will be slow in both. Question is how close is the correlation among elite marathoners.

WTF?
Are you telling me that my legal time entry program doesn't recognize the word "dispositive"?

It seems a bit passive aggressive of you to mention that here. Why don't you just make a joke that includes the word in a sentence (best if it is part of the punchline) the next time you are talking to your legal time entry program?

Most people who run for the fastest mile possible are not interested in whether they can replicate the time 26.2 times in rapid succession. There may be SOME correlation, but I doubt it is a strong one. I, for example, am an endurance athlete but not exactly built for speed. Think cross country, not track. I qualified for Boston on my first marathon. (I was no where near qualifying on the one last year, but that is neither here nor there). I don't think I have EVER run a mile in less than six minutes, nor did I have to to reach my goals.

Perhaps the correlation only runs (hah) that people who can sprint really well aren't going to totally suck at a marathon like I might, or like someone in a totally different non-running sport, such as swimming.
Coltrane! No, none of us told you anything about your incredibly crappy time-entry system. Can you add words to its dictionary?

The mile is a distance event (actually, that's debatable). I would think that a person with Lance's endurance and lung capacity would be capable of running much faster than 4:51 (at least 4:30). 4:51 is not slow, but it's not fast either. Again, I would expect a person in Lance's condition to be able to run faster than your average HS miler.
I ran a 4:54 after eight hard 800s (about 3 years ago, so apparently I'm channeling my inner Penske w/r/t glory days). I am not fast. Don't get me wrong, that's decent for a lawyer who runs marathons, but it's seems to be very slow for someone in Lance's condition.
|
Hi!
How do we define fast? I think that I was fast for a pro-woman triathlete or a decent division I-college woman-runner. Unfortunately I wasn't a woman. Literally. Yet.
