I also want black leather boots. Any suggestions where? I'm thinking Cole Haan or J Crew. I really don't feel like dropping 400. These were on sale...
I would have sent you to target for faux suede, but alas.

Waxing Injuries

Anyone ever had the skin ripped off of their face during a waxing session? I now have seriously tender eye areas and redness/scabbing right under my eyebrows on both sides. What is the culprit? Was he using too much wax at a time, do you think? I don't wax regularly (I'm more of a plucker) but I figured I'd go for it to clean things up a bit while I was in for a facial anyway. This I now regret.

mmm. Were they stretch at the calf? I usually can't wear tall boots...my calves from running ironically usually do not fit into them but either I lost calve inches in the weight loss or whatever and they all fit this year.

This happened to a friend of mine at work last week. I would think that it would be more likely to be wax that is too hot (or even not hot enough), some kind of weird reaction with maybe a cream you use on your eyes (I have no idea if you use cream on your eyes), or a bad kind of wax -- not too much/too little wax.

That sucks. Hope it doesn't hurt too much.

Hmm. If you had waxing during a facial, chances are that is the problem. The steam makes your skin more sensitive and likely to be damaged. It sounds to me like the skin on your face may be too sensitive for waxing in any event and maybe you should just stick to plucking. Have you tried threading -- do they do that in LA? I have had good results from threading before.

I've heard of such a thing, but I, too, am a plucker and have not experienced it. Ugh.

This happened to me once. I was using Retin-A at the time. I no longer use Retin-A and it no longer happens.

I'm generally fine with just the plucking, so I will stick with that from now on. I have waxed them before and never had this result, but I admit that was a while ago, and my skin may be more fragile now (damn this whole getting older thing!). He did the waxing pre-facial (so no steam yet), but he had rubbed some stuff on my face prior to the wax application, so maybe it was a combination of the product tendering up my skin plus my skin being particularly thin there. Hopefull I'll be back to normal in a day or two.

Ew. Just Ew.

from gawker which inspired my "ew"

Chelsea Clinton may have taken that hedge-fund job in order to fulfill her bf Marc Mezvinsky's desk-sex fantasies -- they're co-workers now. [R&M, last item] linked to:

From Rush & Molloy:

"Chelsea Clinton recently accepted a job at hedge fund biggie Avenue Capitol Group, Daily News politico scribe Ben Smith reported Friday. But one of our sources tipped us off to the fact that her boyfriend, Marc Mezvinsky, works at one of Avenue's brokers, Goldman Sachs (an operator at the Broad St. bank confirms he is an employee, though his extension is unlisted). Maybe those late nights at the office didn't sound so bad to Clinton when she realized the kind of company she would be keeping. …"

Ew. She is just not attractive.

I've had sex in every office I've ever had.

Just saying.
