I can't believe I missed this whole phenomenon.

Yes, that was wrong of me to assume that it was implicit that you were suggesting he was annoying. I apologize.
ETA: Carlton would have been a fine choice. As would have been a past officemate of mine named Michael who had exceptionally stinky feet.

You were probably paying attention to the twilight of Flower's career. I recall 2003. Flower was like an aging Ruth. He could still knock them out of the park every once in a while, but he was well past the prime of his historical 2001 campaign. People paid more attention to Flower in 2003 because it was obvious that the end was near.

word usage choice in the guise of a politics Q.
When the news talks about elections, like say the Ford campaign in Tenn., they say things like "he would be the first african-american senator from the south since reconstruction. I ave heard similar things in the past.
Why the qualifier? was there a black Senator during slavery? I don't get the phrasing.

when you shared an office, did you have a code, like a sock on the door handle to let the roomie know if you had a "date" in the office?

No. At the time, my then bf (now ex-husband) and I used one of the telephone rooms outside conference rooms for our "dates."

Since reconstruction ended, presumably.

The best part is when Stevens giggles after the flags come flying in. Post game interview he said he missed and that there was no contact to the nutz.
I guess it was payback for the taunting call earlier.
I also like how we always manage to get a really really bad call during every game. Blow to the head? Come on.

Um, you're a dork. The qualifier is there because he would be the first African-American senator from the south since African-Americans were able to do things of their own free will, like become senators. It is to note that it is taking a very long time from the time African-Americans were able to become senator and when one actually becomes a senator in the south.
ETA: my deepest apologies to Hank. I am wrong again.

The entry was probably written by Smoove B.
- At this point, we will go back to my place, where I will prepare a dinner specially suited for one as lovely as you. While I am cooking the meal, we will talk about your life, your hopes, and your dreams. At this point, I will unthaw a deluxe bag of jumbo shrimp for you to sample as the appetizer.
There will also be cocktail sauce.

I don't think I have ever come across Smoove B's stuff before, Burger. Thanks for putting me on to his lovin' prose.
Damn.
