Sounds to me like somebody's just a little bitter not to have gotten any recognition or airtime after morning upon morning upon morning of camping out on the plaza.*

*Or prole-za, as it was so aptly described by the FB's great departed phrase-smith.

It's part of why I have no respect for him. I would watch people recognize him and then ask him about the weather and he would get pissed off and refuse to answer (and he had attitude). Now, his unthreatening act is so much a part of him that I doubt he is even capable of saying anything other than a stupid pun that makes some jack ass from Idaho with a sign giggle.

Besides the facts that she lives in New Jersey and has big diamonds, how is this woman any different from you?

She said the woman was "strangely repellent."

This is not funny. You just restated the joke that Hank already made (or what you think his joke was), which either way wasn't funny and was also a whiff*, but even if it had been, your doing it in a more obvious way is not funny and adds nothing.

Stop doing this. You don't have to pipe up in response to every person's post.

TM, the man is a weatherschmuck on the Today show. It is hardly a repository for meaningful personality. Being offended about this man doesn't make any sense, because the vehicle is designed for nothing more. It's as if I were to become upset about Weed getting piss-drunk.
1. I disagree. Whether you are a weather man or pundit, paid to give your opinion, I believe you do not have to make yourself so homogenous that you are effectively no longer even a person.

2. He is not just a weather man. He does many interviews and other pieces. He is either only authorized to do only bubble gum or only wants to. And I've seen him in a few interviews where the most obvious question would be one that wasn't along the lines of "Well, gee, that's depressing, shall we talk about your rose garden instead?"

3. If he has become a eunich because of his position as chief, black eunich of the today show -- in charge of weather -- I still have no respect for him. He doesn't need to do that shit anymore. He's loaded. He does it now because he loves being a non-person or the money (or both).

A little less venom and you'd be frighteningly close to channeling Paul Mooney on that one...

Awww, pretty AND sweet. Thanks -- and thanks for not pointing out the numerous typos and other mistakes.

That one went right over my head.

My post was just a Seinfeld reference. Sorry that I left my asterisk hanging out (hi, Coltrane!).

I started watching the Today show about a year ago and now watch it most mornings. Al is basically a non-entity, but I think that is the role they have in mind for the weatherperson there. I mean, Willard Scott. Al Roker is Willard Scott. Only younger.

Anyway, my point here was going to be that he makes this one "joke" all the time that annoys the hell out of me. Whenever he meets a just married couple, he turns to the man and says "when did you get married?" and the guy answers, then Al says "that's the last word you'll ever get in." I will estimate that I have heard him make that joke 20 times in the last year, and each time he does so it brings me one step closer to hunting him down outside the Today show studios in Times Square and causing him grave physical harm. Keep up with that joke, Al. It just gets funnier and funnier each time you attempt it.

1. It's like you have ppnyc on ignore.

2. I'm totally neutral on him, which is what NBC wants. He's Willard Scott, except black (or "black"), and a little more 90s, and less 70s. He's made an effort to branch out beyond weather. But clearly NBC doesn't want an edgy weatherman. Why would they? They're all grins and giggles anyway, except for meredith vierra, who seems to hold al in as high regard as you, and can't resist sticking him in the back with the plastic knives that are the only sharp things allowed on the set.

I think you should, but mine is a very controversial stance. If you do a search through past posts you'll see Hank and I have fought about this before.

He thinks its a ripoff. I say he's a fool.

Interesting. I was just going to post that his wife, Deborah Roberts, appears to have the more serious journalistic career, and I wonder how that affects him.

Studies show that in emotional level, most men are not happy when their wives' careers are more high-octane than theirs.
