Totally. I was too lazy to make my own post though and had to piggy-back on your post. I am in the running for laziest. Don't forget to vote for me.

Good? Morning Frustration

Again, this argument will not make me change my mind about him. Swallowing your personality and transforming yourself into the most unthreatening black man in the history of television to become the black Willard Scott does not cause me to respect you.

And the joke that pisses you off is a good example of how I feel about him, except that his mere presence is the recurring joke I can't stand.

Anyway, my point here was going to be that he makes this one "joke" all the time that annoys the hell out of me. Whenever he meets a just married couple, he turns to the man and says "when did you get married?" and the guy answers, then Al says "that's the last word you'll ever get in." I will estimate that I have heard him make that joke 20 times in the last year, and each time he does so it brings me one step closer to hunting him down outside the Today show studios in Times Square and causing him grave physical harm. Keep up with that joke, Al. It just gets funnier and funnier each time you attempt it.
Al's biography describes a painful childhood of insults about his weight. It's a well know fact in meteorological circles that he has tremendous insecurities. He's overcompensating. Cut him some slack.

1. It's like you have ppnyc on ignore.

2. I'm totally neutral on him, which is what NBC wants. He's Willard Scott, except black (or "black"), and a little more 90s, and less 70s. He's made an effort to branch out beyond weather. But clearly NBC doesn't want an edgy weatherman. Why would they? They're all grins and giggles anyway, except for meredith vierra, who seems to hold al in as high regard as you, and can't resist sticking him in the back with the plastic knives that are the only sharp things allowed on the set.
I am not asking him to be edgy. I am asking for him to exhibit a backbone. I am asking that he be something. I am asking that he not revel in being defined as the unthreatening black guy who will only be remembered for saying, "Let's see what's happening in your neck of the woods." I'm asking that he have a personality or opinion on ANYTHING besides barbecue.

Studies show that in emotional level, most men are not happy when their wives' careers are more high-octane than theirs.
My wife has a high paying gig, but is quite happy to scale back her hours and allow me to pick up a large percentage of the household cash flow burden. I assure you, the only man who'd put his ego over sitting on his ass and letting his old lady pay the way is a full-on, four alarm, card-carrying goddamn imbecile.

If you had the impression that I was trying to get you to change your mind about Al, you could not be wronger. In fact, is it okay if I just call you the next time he makes that damn joke so that you can go down to the prole-za and cause him grave physical harm on my behalf?

Do those studies show that such men take it out on football coaches?

Because I'm really looking for an explanation on this one:

Story about youth football league commissioner firing coaches of son's team because they failed to play his son on defense every play.

I feel that way about Katie Couric. It's not that she sold out and lacks personality, it's that she is pure, unadulterated evil in high heeled shoes. I am so fucking glad she's gone.

I like Meredith Viera. She is actually someone who didn't sell out. She stepped back from a very "important" career at 60 Minutes, and everyone told her it was career suicide, and so then she did Millionaire and tolerated the company of those cows at the View so that she could both support her family and have time for them, and now she's got a plum job in which people generally take her "seriously." Not a bad path.

I'm sure the morning audience would double if Steven A. Smith became the new weatherman.
