I'm telling you, Pitbull. M.I.A.M.I or El Mariel. Pitbull.

No, I'm thrilled to hear that. Some bands with a sound that intricate, yet heavy suck live. See "What I've heard about the Secret Machines.

I hear BA also do a Velvetesque liquid light show that's killer. I saw some of that online, but the quality of the film was spotty.

I saw Bob Dylan live this weekend. He actually remained standing the entire show. I was impressed.

The Raconteurs opened for him and were also pretty good, but very, very loud.

When did liking cute twins become "gay"? I'm going to have to rethink those old Coors Light commercials. Apparently they were gayer than that old SNL Schmitt's commercial with Sandler and Farley. I don't know how to respond to the suggestion that Eric B. & Rakim are gay. Sounds like an East Coast/West Coast thing to me. Hank, I'd stay out of Las Vegas if I were you.

finally, no straight guy has an opinion on Dave Matthews. for that matter gay guys don't either. I'm not even sure what to make of that discussion. I'll get back to you.
Only women can think Dave Matthews sucks?

I'm not so sure you want to take ABBA's recommendation in this instance. I listened to a bit of this Pitbull chap on MySpace. Let's just say that I think I will probably be hearing him in spin class if I have not already.

Advanced Maternal Age

My mom's cousin had kids at 50 and 52, but I'm pretty sure she used donor eggs. Same thing for Elizabeth Edwards, wife of John Edwards. My aunt had her last kid (now a senior in high school) at 46, but that's about the oldest I know of for someone having a kid unassisted by the wonders of modern medical technology.

This is an excellent line.

I sometimes will go for days with the bass line to Paid in Full playing in my head.

Zero 7? It is hard for me to cut you slack on that, and I like Thievery Corporation.

Cute twins should not be singing. They should be using their tongues to whip themselves up into a writhing, pre-orgasmic frenzy before letting loose upon you with an explosion of raw sexual fury.

I find you can find most artists' MySpace pages by doing a Google search with [name of artist] and MySpace as search terms.

Anyway, whoever it is, you're fired. How could you not clue me in to the Hold Steady? Three albums out by the time I figure 'em out on my own? And, conveniently, 2 weeks after they played live here? Fuckers. Letting me down again.

The Hold Steady rock. I like these guys. Buy their records.

Oh, and Flower, if I can find Lifter Puller's records, should I buy them?
I could have sworn Lifter/Puller was mentioned (by someone else) on one of the old boards or maybe this one.

How could you NOT have heard about the Hold Steady? I don't own any of their albums, but they've gotten a TON of press the past three months.

Do I have to mention that The Killers have a polarizing new album out? Is everyone aware that Lady Sovreign is the new Streets? Should everyone be warned that while Angels & Airwaves sucks in ways different from the way Blink-182 sucked, it still sucks?

A gwinky moment

When I was in boxing class on Saturday, November Rain came on the radio in the gym. I couldn't help but think of gwinky. Now, of course, I can't get the damned song out of my head. I don't know whether to blame Axl or gwinky.

I have an ex-BF who was born to a mother who was in her early 50s (I can't remember exactly how old she was when he was born). He was a menopause surprise; his next oldest brother was 7 years older. His oldest brother was 30+ years older and their mother was 14* when she had him.

*Yes, this is young. She lived in East Africa where this is less unusual.

I searched myspace music and it doesn't come up. hmmm.

a poor MySpace search engine might explain why my blog doesn't get the 1000s of daily hits that were predicted.

Maybe you do have to mention these things. Although I was aware of the first two, I had not even heard of Angels & Airwaves until I read your post. I sometimes purchase CDs on impulse, and what a disaster it would have been if this one found its way into my collection. Thanks to your post, that is not going to happen.
