This seems unpossible to me. How or why do you confuse those two? They look nothing alike and are famous for entirely different reasons. AC Slater wasn't even a swimmer in high school. Not to mention the generational difference.
Do explain.

There may be another diver involved. I don't know. But the first few times Mario Lopez was up on the (silent) TV at the gym b/c of his recent DWTS fame, I thought "Greg Louganis!"
ETA Thanks TM, now I know why. EATA I don't think I ever watched the movie, but I saw a bazillion ads for it.

Totally. I love Greg Louganis too. I totally want him to go down on me in a taxicab. You know, I think Mario Lopez actually played Greg Louganis in a movie about Greg Louganis.

ETA there is a much more interesting picture of him that I couldn't get to when I clicked on it because of the net nanny.

What did the AC stand for? Was it ever revealed -- maybe on a very special Saved by the Bell?

I think he is hot. I am always attracted to guys with that look. Yum. I am giving Mario a call. I want to lick his dimples. The ones on his butt.

I used to have Greg Louganis posters on my wall when I was in junior high school. I may have shed a tear or two when he came out of the closet. What a beautiful, beautiful man.

Me too. Another reason for getting them mixed up. And like RT, I was non-happy when he uncloseted himself.
Is Mario Lopez gay?

Hmm. This is interesting. I think I must be decent at only thinking of how people currently look. Here is Louganis now:
Nothing like Lopez at all. But here he is in the 80's:
Maybe, sorta. I guess. But if you do a google image search maybe it will clear things up for you, because Mario's physique is nothing like Louganis's (in his prime). Mario goes more for bulky and musclebound. Greg was atheletic and lean. I'd take Louganis (in his prime). Though the gay thing might have conspired against our hypothetical coupling.*
*Someone should warn 1980's Louganis that I'm hypothetically considering whether a relationship between us would have worked. I could be a stalker if I ever get a time machine back to the 80's. Creepy.

I don't dispute that they look very different. I just said I get them mixed up. I had no clue what Louganis looks like now.
Anyway, both hot.

This is an example of a man I WANT to see naked. Possibly related to me about to be having sex with Mario Lopez (Mario, call me!!!) but I like seeing this type of man naked.
