Not to start a big political debate here, because I'm not sure I even have a position on this Florida case, but isn't the issue that the woman didn't leave written instructions? I thought the legal battle was between her husband who claims she told him to let her die if this sort of thing happened, and the parents who claim this is not what she would have wanted. Sounds like a legitimate and difficult issue of fact to me.

So it comes down to battling in the courts as to what her wishes were, and it sounds like Bush's action is in response to a lower court ruling for the husband...

Regardless of the eventual outcome, I'm sure it's gutwrenching for all concerned. Moral of the story, make your wishes known in a written living will...
