 | Well, dating meant sometimes doing things that someone else wanted to do and that is work -- being married means we do what I like. I also like not feeling like I have to entertain the other person all the time -- it is okay to just sit and say absolutely nothing with no questions asked.

I like not having to "fake it" with somebody. I don't have to "be on" all the time. When you date it seems like the slightest thing can cause the other person to want to know what's wrong -- being married means that someone just leaves you the hell alone because he knows to.

Being married I get all the good parts of dating, like sex and going where I want to go and do what I want to do, and none of the bad, like having to explain working hours to a beau or feeling like I have to hide certain character uniquities (hah! beat that scrabble score).

On CBK and private schools and all that -- I went public all the way through law school and I am hotter than she was . Having no pedigree has its benefits -- there is nothing to live up to and if you even remotely make it in the world you are the family hero. No expectations and failure is always an acceptable outcome. Besides, I never cottoned much to the Kennedys and would hate to feel like I had to marry one of them. She seemed sort of kinda cool though and the coke thing doesn't bother me (to each her own). If some people want to be uberskinny or have cosmetic surgery or do whatever, who am I to judge??

edited to add that the PLiFfy one is right, some of us belong in public school -- otherwise he would be celibate. Public school girls need loving too, and we try harder (but none of that assfucking crap, I went to a "good" public school).

I guess the fame achieved by being a royal A-Hole on TV is fleeting and not as lucrative as hoped.

Witness Sunday's "Arrested Development," which is guilty of (1) projecting middle class fascinations and foibles on the rich;* (2) mild underuse of David Cross; (3) scandalous underuse of Jeffrey Tambor; and (4) use of Portia Di Rossi (tying this back into the Carolyn Bessette discussion).

Portia Di Rossi is practically asexual, and has no comic timing. I wouldn't fuck her with Jamie Lee Curtis's penis.

*For example, a hyper-rich and jaded socialite would never say "Look at what the homosexuals have done to me" IRL. This is just the kind of thing the Middle Class thinks they would say. |

I think of her more as well-dressed. It can do a lot for a woman. For example, Kelly Klein, nee Rector. |

 | This whole schooling schtick is still making me think dressage. Maybe it's the proximity to the CBK horsey-faced discussion and the "what is upper-class" discussion. |
