A very sweaty Ace, in his going-to-court-navy-suit-and-white-shirt, trying to convince the judge that his client wasn't a a crook and the TRO part of the order to show cause was unwarranted.

And it was a victory (Boo-yah!), of course, for your correspondent over some pinstriped tool from Finley, Kumble with a Sebbyesue-spread collar and cufflinks (?!?!?!). But fuckity-fuck, it was too hot here in TCOTU to schlep off to the Halls of Justice. To paraphrase the SKEKS of yore, Commercial Division to 110 (degrees, not dollars), bay-bee!

Speaking of which, I opposed a particularly strong MSJ and won on very thin facts. In the decision, the judge misstated the facts from the other defendant's particularly weak motion and distinguished defendant 2's cases in denying defendant 1's motion. Defendant 2's motion is yet undecided. Normally say who cares but I do not want these misquotes to be binding later.

Do I move to clarify? Write a letter? Defendant 2 has the bigger pocket.

Three amusing takeaways.

1. Who in the industry didn't see this coming seven to ten years ago? That could only accrue from willful ignorance or blissful self-delusion.

2. Why is this only focused on big firms? Medium sized firms are also getting hammered.

3. When was law - big, small, or medium, all practice specialties - a collegial, communal environment, in which people were more interested in being part of a "profession" than making money like any other business? That Disneyland must've been a hell of a swell time to be any kind of professional. Docs would've whistled as they biked to work, accountants would have clicked their heels like Gene Kelly in Singing in the Rain as they rushed down the sidewalks to their fascinating days of preparing corporate tax returns... Prozac would never have been invented. And of course, unsolicited fellatio from a Sophia Vergara lookalike for everyone, at least once a day.
