I don't even close my door any more. Why pretend?

It's not time to make a change.

I'm guessing that GGG means "first class."
I have a friend whose firm decided to shrink corner offices somewhat and semi-standardize the size of non-corner offices when they moved into new space a few years ago. There wasn't much grumbling. But this is going way into the land of ridiculousness. The same sized office for Skippy The First Year and the BSD? One client chair per office? No mini conference tables? Jesus H. Christ. I guess I am old.

How often do you actually have clients in your office, as opposed to meeting them in a firm conference room?

If you're a BSD, you need the space for depositions.

Not as often as I used to - now it's more used for meetings with colleagues about a case or for having a group call with a client, other counsel, etc. And yes, we could all schlep into a conference room (assuming one is available), but it's easier to do it in the office.
I suppose it's not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but I don't think that the enforced uniformity of square footage is enough of a social good for most firms to make the inconvenience a worthwhile trade-off.

If it is that big an issue for you, just permanently check out one of the corner conference rooms, preferably one next to your office so you can just take down the wall.

You should see what passes for my "office." There is a sliding glass shower door, with an opaque strip between one's knees and shoulders. I can't nap at all.

Icky piles the boxes so high (1) no one can see in ; (2) no one wants to fire me because they'll be forced to clean.

Yep.
My office is actually rather large, but that's because it's right across from the kitchen. I have to close the door during lunch hour to soften the screeching of the harpies.
I'd much rather have a smaller office further away, but I'm low man on the totem pole.*
*In ten years will I still be able to use this phrase?

totem pole might still be okay, but referring to people as "harpies" is probably not. are the harpies swarthy?

You will, but only at Redskins games. So, how much therapy is this poor woman going to need:

I've definitely been stuck in a room with 15 chattering Italian women. A bunch of chiacchierone!

That was one of the most heartbreaking endings to a sporting event I've ever seen.
