Thanks for the input. I never drive in/into the city (train to/from). And while the third row isn't necessary, there are certainly plenty of times when the neighbor and I will throw all four kids into one car, which is nice (and not do-able without the third row).

We used to have an RDX, and have an MDX now. I've had really good experience with the Acuras and recommend them. Test drive both to see which works better for you.
