so I'll be right again:
but Ty, 100K quit trying last month, when unemployment has finally been dropping for the last few months? my god, that is tragic!
that's like those movies where a guy dies in the desert because he can't get over some hill, then the camera pans out and you see an oasis, or at least a 7-11 the other side.

Has this replaced that line about the Saudis?

I think it replaces the line about the "Soviet Union." But I am not sure.

No. that line stands, and the corrolary that Mr. Dean is bonkers. Why I replayed this one is I want you to pull back.
Dean is nuts- okay. Ty puts forth an argument that is wrong and doesn't acknowledge: this I find too troulbling.
please answer why someone would quit ther job market just when things are picking up? you don't need 100K reasons, just tell me 1.

I am still waiting for one viable reason that would explain HOW let alone why someone would leave the job market.
So far I have heard they can live on credit, they can live in their sister's basement, teachers who don't work in the summers have left the job market, and people who only worked for luxuries can leave the job market.
But what about the people who have mortgages to pay and mouths to feed? How do they do it? Do they live on credit for that?

Have you been drinking too? (NTTAWWT.) If the unemployment rate falls because people drop out of the work force, then what you are talking about is direct causation, not tragic irony. If people hadn't dropped out of the work force, the unemployment rate would have been higher.

The recent prevalence of this meme in the conservative media is prima facie evidence to the contrary. But if you feel confident about that, don't give Bush your money, and tell your friends to do the same.

How do they eat if they drop out of the work force? Are they all living on credit? What if they were a cashier making $18k a year? Do they have much credit?

I have been, and after tonight's SNL*, I'm voting for Sharpton. He's almost as entertaining as Clniton. I might think differently tomorrow, though.
*Potentially outable. Please do not tell anybody that I'm not from Des Moines, Sacramento, Oklahoma, etc.

I don't give Bush my money. I give my money to charity (and that includes but is not limited to the government in the form of taxes).
However, since I heard Lieberman's joke about Mary Elizabeth O'Mallay being his great-grandmother, I may give him some money just because he made me laugh.

With a fork and a knife, and a spoon for soup and ice cream.

I would imagine that lending institutions don't like to extend credit to the unemployed, but I don't rightly know. Maybe you should ask some?

Then they have a better chance of finding a job in retail, don't you think?
