But enjoy fighting the straw people.

You're not. You may want to think you are, but unless you eat the whole enchilada, you aren't on the bus.*
And I mean that as a compliment. The truly Woke are loony tunes. I've listened to Kendri, a really Woke voice, and thought, "Holy shit. This guy's fucking nuts."
I wouldn't even say DiAngelo is truly Woke. She's not strident enough.

And on the other side of the fence, you'll hear the mirror image argument from Trumpland: "We want to be heard. We want a say. Our communities are being ignored and we deserve to have our voice heard." Otherwise stated, "Relative to 'elites' [whatever they are], we're not equal. We want equality."
I see no difference between much of this stuff and religion. People like movements.

This is like when Fox News complains about lefties in a bubble or Bari Weiss gets excited about cancel culture, right? Doesn't matter what I say, the shades are down, the TV is turned up, and you're not going to see or listen to anything you don't want to.

You try far too hard to find equivalence on the right and left, and this is another example. This is a terrible description of Trumpism, and doesn't have anything to do with equality.

I could say the same about you. Come on.
I'm actually agreeing with you that things like 1619 can be read by reasonable people and have some value and spur valuable conversation. I also support BLM because law enforcement abuse of minorities is a real concrete thing about which reasonable people cannot disagree.
Wokeism is a near religious type of thing. It's a hijacking of a controversial area of study, critical race theory, that makes everything primarily about race. Which is not factual.

It's the exact language used on me the other night by a Trumper when I defended Pat Toomey's vote to subject Trump to an impeachment trial. Toomey was called an elitist. I asserted that he's merely reasonable and sane and Trump Nation is batshit crazy.
For probably the 100th time I've had this discussion with Trumpers since Trump emerged on the political scene, I was given a story about how he's imperfect, but fighting for the little guy who is getting bulldozed by RINOs and Democrats who don't give a fuck about middle class America.
Come to this Commonwealth and you'll hear what actual Trumpers think, rather than your internal characterization of them. They'll sing you endless sob stories about equality. They're fixated on grievance, just like the Woke.

The stuff you said before "Otherwise stated," or all of it?

They are absolutely focused on grievance, but it is *very* different from what your Woke are about, and your desire to make them parallel obscures much more than it illuminates.

Look, my job is done, you're saying very different things about 1619 than you were a couple days ago, at some point you may even want to read more of it.
You'll always be fond of straw isms, it's what you do. Not my job today. I'm going to go read some interesting and multivariate histories by folks who subscribe to critical race theory now. Bye!
