The military are the guys in uniform with government jobs and salaries, and the defense contractors are the guys in suits with private sector jobs and comp. The people in charge of the military have stars on their shoulders.
I don't think the military cares about the money.

Isn't there a revolving door into defense contracting/consulting for the higher ups in the military? Seems like a lot of them get pretty cushy jobs in industries that profit from defense after leaving.

They don't. Clients who are suit-happy like that woman Hank described are congenital assholes. You can't reason with them, and they're certain "justice" has somehow eluded them and everybody they sue is to blame.
Justice has eluded them in many instances. In a just universe, they'd accidentally fall feet first into a tree shredder.

Never sue another lawyer for malpractice. You'd think "Don't shit in your nest" would be a basic rule, but in any city, there are three of four guys who can't get clients any other way who hold themselves out as guys who sue other lawyers. And almost every one of them is exactly the sort of shitty human being you'd expect.
