Wrong.
Without government, it's harder to enforce property rights.

I think before there were governments homo sapiens had property rights. It was just that their way of enforcing their property rights was different. Instead of using the law to enforce their property rights, they used force.

First of all, this business of hypothesizing a state of nature where there is no government is fantasy.
Second, there are no rights without some kind of government to define and enforce them. The common law -- which both of you seem to conceive of as having existed in some protean way in neolithic times -- was created by government. A lot of white men in robes and wigs. Not the legislature, but government all the same.

I think you are back peddaling now. I think you meant government in a formalized system of government kind of way. And now that you have seen you are wrong, you are back peddaling. That is what I think.

You can think that, but you are wrong. I am not back-pedaling even the slightest little bit. This is what I was starting to get at when I was toying with sgtclub. So, try again.
And since when are common-law courts not a "formalized system of government"? The genius of libertarianism is in pretending that rights created by a bunch of dead guys in wigs, and enforced by the sherriff, usually to the benefit of those with the most power, is not really government at all.

You are a fool Slothrop. The right to keep and bear arms is a natural god-given right of man, and no government is needed to validate it.
The only law I need is the loaded metal barrel extended from my left hand. Of course I am willing to go along with this liberal commie effette faux intellectual government crappolla propigated by no-nothing ivory tower types like you and Adder and the rest of the leftist rabble rousers here and there and your assorted Clintonista comrades, but when push comes to shove and the Government fails to protect the lives, freedom, property and pursuit of happiness of the people, then it is morally imperative for us to act on our own behalf to protect G-d's bond with us.
A Government like the one this once great Nation had during the blighted final days of the 20th century which was one that failed to protect it's own people, and eventually was complicit with the murder of 3000 of our finest patriots (notwithstanding their residence in a blue state), abrogates it's mandate to govern. And the people must bear their arms and enforce their G-d given providence.
Of course with all of the loonie leftists and hollyweirdos so prominent in the left wing nut media conspiracy these days it seems that the celebration of oppressively demonic government bureaucracies is the norm. There are a whole lot of DemoSocialists trying to redefine the laws of G-d and natural rights of man in the image of Lenin, Marx and Mao.
I for one will remain in G-d's resistance forces.
I'm 43, married, a god-fearing Christian, with two natural children and two step-kids, and I have never lived in a home without an arsenal of self help weapons. I choose to exercise my Second Amendment rights, early and often and avoid the temptation of the typical liberal to freeload off of other gun owners who are keeping the state secure and free.
The Second Amendment is not just a right but a responsibility to the good lord!
My current favorites for those who may be interested in joining the militia of true freedom loving patriots of the Red States of Bush Country are:
Smith & Wesson 357 Revolver
Rugerr-SP #101 357 Revolver
Glocke-19 9MM Pistol
Mossburg-500 Twelve gauge shotgun
Also a couple of assault rifles and some sawed off shotguns for when the shite really hits the fan. Let's see what bin Laden and his boys say to that.
Good to be back, Merry Christmas and May the Good Lord and his only legitimate son bless y'all.
Locked and loaded,
Dr. W

I was referring to a recent exchange on the FB in which Penske was busted for posting stuff that he found on Google as if he knew it off the top of his head. If you search for "ice wine," you'll find it, but I'm not saying it'll be worth it.
