The theory stems from McDermott's status as a loon.

Even his fellow D's from Washington are backing away from him in horror.

Mmmmm Strip Bars

You can take the politician out of the office, but you can't take the hypocrisy out of the politician.
I don't think it has anything to do with being a politician. It is just the hypocrisy of purportedly religious people in general. For instance, to prepare for the fucking of the virgins* that awaited them in heaven, the 9/11 homicidal maniacs visited strip bars on their nights off during their flight training in Florida.

*imagine the surprise on their faces when they enter the pearly gates** and instead of being greeted by the virgins to fuck, they are given white raisins.*** Hehehe. Bet they will be wishing that they stayed in Florida with the strippers. Even skanky strippers are better than white raisins.

**are the gates of the Islamic heaven pearly? Or is that just the gates of the Christian heaven?

Luxenberg tries to show that many obscurities of the Koran disappear if we read certain words as being Syriac and not Arabic. We cannot go into the technical details of his methodology but it allows Luxenberg, to the probable horror of all Muslim males dreaming of sexual bliss in the Muslim hereafter, to conjure away the wide-eyed houris promised to the faithful in suras XLIV.54; LII.20, LV.72, and LVI.22. Luxenberg 's new analysis, leaning on the Hymns of Ephrem the Syrian, yields "white raisins" of "crystal clarity" rather than doe-eyed, and ever willing virgins - the houris. Luxenberg claims that the context makes it clear that it is food and drink that is being offerred, and not unsullied maidens or houris.

In Syriac, the word hur is a feminine plural adjective meaning white, with the word "raisin" understood implicitly. Similarly, the immortal, pearl-like ephebes or youths of suras such as LXXVI.19 are really a misreading of a Syriac expression meaning chilled raisins (or drinks) that the just will have the pleasure of tasting in contrast to the boiling drinks promised the unfaithful and damned.

As Luxenberg's work has only recently been published we must await its scholarly assessment before we can pass any judgements. But if his analysis is correct then suicide bombers, or rather prospective martyrs, would do well to abandon their culture of death, and instead concentrate on getting laid 72 times in this world, unless of course they would really prefer chilled or white raisins, according to their taste, in the next.

On the timing issue, here is a post from your favorite website (DU). If the person is serious, I weep for the future of this country:

"Timed so that Bush could go on tv just before NFL football and address his core audience. Timed so that people could here the news when they woke up on Sunday, still have time to go to Church if they do so, and get back to here Chimp the Military Hero. Made sure to interrupt the NFL pregrame shows, witch have a large audience, but not to piss people off too much by interrupting the games. A morning orgy of nationalist gloating, capped off by some good old American corporate entertainment.

I didn't watch much television Sunday, but enough to see the endless loop of Saddam being probed. It's amazing that the networks didn't play it side by side with the World Trade Center collapsing over and over.

Most disgusting thing I saw last night was ABC's reporter cheerfully crawling down Saddam's hole. What are they going to do next, sniff his dirty underwear on air and let us know what it smells like?

All Americans should feel so proud today. We are such an advanced society, not like those dirty Arabs."

Please, I implore you, take this quote out before dtb sees it. I fear that her inner timmy might die of shock.

What aspect of her timminess stays on the inside?

It's not that kind of branding, silly -- we're all about marketing.

Does This Mean I'm a Republican?

My Lord! Even George Will agrees with me:

[In a paragraph from his recent column about Hussein's capture "Lessons from Nuremberg"]:

"Opposition to 'internationalizing' Hussein's prosecution involves different, larger and better reasons than the U.S. decision -- which seems like a tantrum tarted up as foreign policy -- to deny reconstruction contracts in Iraq to companies from nations that opposed the war. A trial in Iraq, by Iraqis, can serve several importatn goals."

Come on Boys! Let's round up Jeffords, Chafee, Collins, Powell, Baker, and Rudman and take our Grand Old Party back from the Buchanans, Limbaughs, Gingriches, and Delays of this world!! Are you with me???

CNN is reporting that the U.S. has captured a "high value target" and 73 others in a "massive raid" in Samarra, Iraq. No other details yet.

If it's bin Ladin, I'll vote for Bush in 2004. If nothing else, because I've lost confidence in the Saddam/Osama ticket. I realize this means I've given up my dream of working for the DOJ's new Sharia Enforcement Unit, but there you go.

Relax. I understand it was just the people next door, measuring the rooms to see if their stuff would fit.

Dean Supporter's Idea of a Good Time

Howard Dean's Comic Relief

Quote:
And the Dean event got a lot worse. Comedian David Cross used the N-word for blacks in a disjointed "joke" apparently based on the premise that it's fine for a pro-Dean comic to use racial epithets as long as the goal is to claim Republicans are racists.

Comic Kate Clinton evoked Michael Jackson (hit with new child-sex-abuse charges) and said: "Frankly, I'm far more frightened of Condoleezza Rice" - the Bush national security adviser who has nothing in common with Jackson except being black.

Rice seems to drive liberal woman comics especially nuts. Sandra Bernhard insulted her in racial terms with a "Yes Massa" accent at another Dean fundraiser the same night. Perhaps the pro-Dean comics find it unbearable that the most powerful black woman in U.S. history, close friend to the president and his wife - and a brilliant classical pianist to boot - dares to be a Republican.

Actually, there was something to offend everyone. Dean rival Joe Lieberman got ridiculed for being unable to campaign on Jewish holidays because he's Orthodox. Vice President Dick Cheney was accused of talking "like Mary Jo Buttafuoco."

Cheney's wife Lynne was called "Lon Chaney" - the long-ago movie star who specialized in playing ghouls in horror films. And Cheney's daughter Mary, who is gay, was called "a big lezzie."
Lezzie. Tee-hee.
