In fairness, in honour of our nuptials and the rings she got marking them, I successfully lobbied for the clearance to buy a tricked out racing bike. Lots of Ti. 16 pounds. Sweet ride. Not as much cashish as the rings but it cost more than the 10 year old Saab that I owned at that time was worth.
But I had to lobby for it, its not like it was an accepted quid pro quo-that's what I'm talking about.

ps: I also bargained for the infamous Armani dinner jacket* as quid pro against the wedding dress, with the cost coming out of the wedding budget, which was not my bank.
