TM definitely used the most awful cliched line.
I will go with the oft-used "We've been looking forward to my retirement for so long. I bought a boat, and we're going to Florida."
You already know he's the first guy killed who must be avenged.
|
In a slasher movie, "the campers aren't even here yet, sure its against the rules to go into that cabin, but lets go screw."
More generically, "sure there are rules, but they don't apply to us."
Of course, this tends to be the last line from the person delivering the line in a slasher film.

Hearing "Don't you die on me. Don't you dare die on me!" makes me physically ill, so I'll go with that.

Okay. I know maybe one quarter of the bands listed, and half the ones I know I can't stand.
I really am old, now, aren't I?

Where is 8 Mile? I figure somewhere in Detroit, but don't know exactly where. I ask because there is a slight possiblity that I could actually have some very faint coolness/hipness elements in my background!!! (I'm so excited about the possiblity -- I'm positively schvitzing!)
I'm from Detroit -- and not a suburb either -- Detroit itself.
I have had the following conversation more times than I can count:
[your name here]: Where are you from?
dtb: Detroit.
ynh: Oh? Which suburb?
dtb: No suburb, Detroit itself.
ynh: No, but I mean, what town?
dtb: No town. Detroit. Detroit. Not downtown, but DETROIT!!! (OK, the hospital where I was born was in Southfield, but I lived in DETROIT, dammit!!!)
(Of course, we moved when I was very small -- and I haven't been there since I was about 19, but still!!)

I don't know - with The Cure, Kraftwerk, and various other relics on the line up, I think that this would be a good show for those advanced in years.
In any event, don't feel too bad - I know at most about 2/3 of the groups, and many of these are somewhat obscure dance DJs and underground hip hop groups.

Close to mine. I'm going with the inevitable scene when one guy's been found with an axe in his head, one girl is missing, and the leader looks ta everyone else around the campfire and says "let's split up and look for her".

Grammys
The funk set at the Grammys was pretty great, until George Clinton, who sounded like crap, and was worse when the entire audience came on stage to sing (or maybe it just seemed that way).
I have already ordered my Robert Randolph & the Family Band CD.
Could Justin Timberlake have been on stage any more? Actually, I thought his solo performance was pretty interesting. The Beatles tribute sucked wind. So did the Warren Zevon tribute. Speaking of which, I am most depressed that "Keep Me in Your Heart For a While" suffered the triple indignity of that lackluster tribute, losing to Justin Timberlake, AND losing to Richard Fucking Marx.
Beyonce and Chick Corea are awesome talents, although I wasn't crazy about Beyonce's solo performance (amazing rendition of a song that did nothing for me).
50 Cent is a jackass. So are Outcast. Incredibly talented jackasses, all three, but they remind me of why I stopped doing entertainment law.

how do the scarlett johansson fans feel about her accessorizing here:
I guess it would have been ok at a Dean rally, but is kind of weird at a movie premiere. And if she was really committed to the cause, she would have coordinated her outfit to the pin better.

I've come to the conclusion that I like Charlotte much more than Scarlett.
