Irregardless, if he's referrring to his hand as "Mrs.", then they should assume he's taken. On the other hand, if his hand is just "my girlfriend Ms. Hand," then he's fair game.

My husband goes out sans me and with ring (apparently) and gets hit on frequently. I don't think the ring is a deterrent at all. If anything (I think it was George Costanza who said it best, but I will paraphrase), it means you are even more attractive because you're safe.

Usually guys try to make it easier on themselves when trying to pick someone up, not harder.
You make it sound like wearing a wedding ring is some sort of an impediment to success with the ladies.

Weird that.

Amazon

I was all excited this morning because I thought that the package on my desk from Amazon was Newsradio, which I've had preordered for months now. However, it was just some Squarepusher and Mouse on Mars cds.

C'est la vie. It is impressive that the turnaround time from order to delivery is two days, and the shipping is free.

In real life, I would call bullshit on this. However, I have an imaginary friend who has witnessed similar things when out in groups with her married guy friends, so....this may fall into the "I hang out with boring people IRL -- thank God for the internet!" category of stories.

Of course, in the example my imaginary friend gave, the guys weren't removing female tongues from their ears -- in fact, they were encouraging such displays of affection and interest. So maybe I will call bullshit. At least on the "I have no idear why this is happening!" part of it.

It apparently isn't much of a deterrent, but what does that say about certain young single women that it isn't?

I don't blame you for being skeptical. That one instance was a noisy, crowded bar in the early a.m. hours, everybody had had more than quite a few, and she leaned over as if to whisper something in my ear. Honestly shocked the hell out of me.

That they are highly motivated? I don't know. It never deterred me when I was single.

I wouldn't. It happened to me. It was at a pre-HS reunion function a few years back, so spouses didn't attend. Happened with who knew I was married. I didn't encourage the behavior. She was very very drunk. It caught me off guard enough that I froze for a second, trying to figure out how to react, before I gently but firmly separated myself from her.

1. The ring only stops the nice girls. And they're just waiting for you to tell them something like "the marriage is over" anyway.

2. If a girl doesn't want to think you're married, then you aren't. Mentioning your wife won't mean a thing. They need to hear, "I can't because I'm married," to stop.

I don't think poor Bilmore will be able to take it much longer if you keep talking like that...

Why so formal, I thought she went by Sally. Five-finger Sally.

She's referred to as "Miss Michigan".
