Yeah, that's me. Power hungry and demanding worship because I back up the board every now and then and edit posts when their format is fucked up.

I've changed so much in the last year, and no one stopped me from becoming an ego maniac. Why didn't someone stop me... ?

OH leave them alone. It makes them feel better that they have "power" now even though they cannot invent their own terms but have to recycle terms invented by those long departed that they truly do not understand but somehow think they appreciate. Perhaps they would realize the stupidity of the tmer if they saw the post that is always reposted every six months or so

Oh, bilmore, you're totally busted. Caught reading Slate. Oh my. Quick, make up something about Jonah Goldberg. No one here will be any the wiser.

It must be nice to take credit for a term that someone else invented, simply because you were there when it happened.

You should meet my pet rooster. And thank him for that whole sun thing.

(Hey, Bilmore -- thanks for being around for the Bill of Rights)

S'allright.

(It was originally going to be the William of Rights, but no one ever really called him that, and we decided it sounded pretentious.)

Have you even read your own posts about the term "Timmy"?

I mean, I'd understand if you couldn't bear to. But I have to wonder.

Cite to where I take credit for inventing Timmy. Futher, I have probably used that term twice in my entire lengthy history here and thats bc I was being lazy. soi why dont you do some research, come up with my two posts using the tmer, and just one post where I take credit for it. Sounds like your legal skills are about as solid as those of Sebby's, relying on pure hyperbole and unsubstantiated conclusions. A real tour de force (credit to use by ty in respons to the mainly correct post by sebby). Y ou are a real champion for the bleeding heart cause of the FB cclass of 2002 and I am sure they are probably happy to have you representing them, what with your skills and all.

I'm glad I'm not old enough to have been posting here for eons. There is no way I could have made it through 80's music as an adult.

I was about to put an amusing remark here, but then I remembered.

newbie, please. you miss the point entirely. Perhaps you need a better explanaition This convo is the result of my "thanks a lot for ruining my scientific experiment" IM to the flower

paigowprincess: it just occurs to me that "timmy" is a really stupid fucking tmer and the only reasons it is widely used is bc it conveys a asense of being in the loop, if you will, when reawlly, the blind use of it is anything but being in the loop. its downright outre. right?
p_l_flower: Agreed
p_l_flower: It is like "em"
paigowprincess: so I was testing the theory that timmy has proliferated without a true appreciation for its inventor.
So, unless we were in the Revolutionary War, we can't use "Benedict Arnold" as shorthand for a betrayal? Or, if we weren't around to see Nixon cry on television in 1952, we can't talk about a "Checkers speech"? Please. If you think it's stupid, fine. I feel the same way about "em" -- not because people who use it weren't around when it was first used, but because I think that it's stupid.

Paigow, you know I dig you in a way much much more than the stereotypical "married FB guy digs unmarried FB betty" way (am I allowed to say "FB betty"? oh, wait -- I may have been around for that one, so nevermind), but this whole board longevity thing is tiresome. As you occasionally point out when others engage in it.

I didn't say you took credit for inventing it. I said you took credit for being around for the invention of it.

It's easy to understand how you would get confused. If someone else was getting this confused, it would be harder to understand.

I don't mean to detract from your accomplishments. You've been on this board a really, really long time. Which means you read the original Timmy post when it was originally posted. I can understand how you would be very, very proud of that and want to keep reminding people of it. Really. I mean that.

I also think highly of five-year-olds who say "he was my firiend before he was your friend so you can't play with him if I'm not playing with him."
