If only they had a "Connick Idol," he might make the top twelve. Like Clay, his primary audience is 12 year old girls for whom he is a safe crush. It has nothing to do with singing ability. See Clay, N'Sync and AK's music collection.
hypocrite please. They might as well have a Celine Dion idol (amy adams), a whitney idol (tiara, latoya,) or a lite fm black guy singer which is a genere I dont know so cant get specific idoll (marque with a q, george),. at least connick idol hasnt been done yet.

Now, I-75 in Florida is a horrible stretch of sameness for hours and hours, but nothing compares to the drive to Newark Airport from NYC, which resembles the LotR scene where the orcs were being made.

Also making my list of worst drives:

Any road in Mississippi
I-10 in Louisiana past Sliddell
I-10 from San Antonio to Palm Springs is a miserable, horrible wasteland, but I think that I-5 from Tracey to LA is even worse. I used to drive the 375 miles from my house to a friend in LA's house in 4 and a half hours, just so I could get the hell off of I-5. The lack of mile markers makes the trip even more unbearable, because you don't have a sense of how much road you've put behind you or how much farther you have to go.

Agree re: I-75. Northern FLA is miserable. It might as well be Georgia. Moreover, and I've said this before, Florida has, by far, the most white trash of any other state. The Everglades are beautiful though.

I-80 thorough Iowa, Kansas and Eastern Colorado. Ugh. You can practically see the curvature of the earth it's so flat. Of course, you can't, since the visible horizon is only about 3.3 miles. But it's all worth it when you get your first glimpse of The Rockies.

Not if you're really high.

I'm not sure what drugs have to do with this conversation, but if you are referencing height off the ground, I agree. I actually can see the curvature of the earth from my office window in Dallas. The first time I noticed this, I thought it was cool in a not cool at all sort of way.

I-70 through Kansas is really bad, but due to bad family trips during my youth, I'm voting for the diagonal drive across Ohio from Lake Erie to Cincinnati as worst drive.

Why start in San Antonio? After Baton Rouge, it's pretty much boring, boring, boring, interjected with scary, scary traffic (Houston) and merely scary traffic (San Antonio - which isn't bad generally, but I-10 is horrible, especially after being lulled by 200 miles of no turns).

However, I think 1-40 through Oklahoma is worse, because it's just as boring, but a) you have to pay for the privilege of driving on Interstates in Oklahoma, and b) there are cops every 15 feet in Oklahoma looking to pull over anyone with out of state plates going a mile over the speed limit, which makes it take even longer.

Also, I'm not a big fan of the Pennsylvania turnpike.

I hate Harry Connick. He's like Muzak Sinatra.

I completely agree. He's just annoying. I don't find listening to him enjoyable at all.

To tie threads, I have only been to one concert at crunchy-granola-hippie-wannabe Red Rocks in my life. Guess who I saw?

I went with my Dad (and not because I wasn't old enough to drive myself). It was a great fuckin' concert. Harry puts on a damn good show.

I-80 from NYC to Chicago. I will NEVER do it again.

Travel tip: If you pull into a gas station in Gary, Indiana at midmight in a teal Saab with Palm Beach plates, you will get offered lots of strange drugs at very reasonable prices.

The stretch of I-80 between Reno and Salt Lake City must be the most desolate drive in the U.S. -- although it's great for testing the limits of your car (and your nerves).

No offense, but this is kind of a sucky poll. Since I've never been on most of these these I-whatevers and have no idea what you're talking about, I'll just chime in and say that the drive along the 401 from Toronto to Montreal is pretty bleak. Lots of Wendys and Tim Hortons and that's about it. Only str8 will know what I'm talking about.

As it happens, I did this drive recently, and survived. Seems that OK has bent to the public will by rising the limit to 70 in most places, and even then I saw neither Bandit nor Smokey (nor, for that matter, Jerry Reed and that ugly dog). YMMV, of course.
