And smog has been worse downtown after the rain than is was before. Any pseudo-scientists care to explain this to a smog-activity novice?
when I went to my first year in college they gave me a roommate who never showered. I mean not once. he smelled bad, of course, but after a bit I got sort of used to it, and focused on moving somewhere else the next Semester.

One morning as I lay in bed, I heard him get up, and then the sound of the shower going on. It was nice for a few moments, I could hope for better quality of life.

Then he came out and the smell was much worse, too pungent to stand. It was like he showered in shit.

I finally figured out that what happened is he washed away the outer, older, deader filth to expose the inner fresher filth.

Maybe something like that happened with the smog?

This response was much better than mine.

That said, the e-mail would be innocent enough. Not "damn, why didn't we fuck?" Just "hey, did you make it to the wine bar I recommended? How was it?"

Fuck me. I'm sounding like Spanky or something. Though a Georgia accent beats the hell out of a Serbian one.
Word. I was asking dtb how one shoudl go about seducing the manseur and she suggested I call him at home. I do not have his home phone number, why would I? To that I responded, seems kind of stalkery, no? What woudl Spanky do? She said he would have already moved in.

So you are currently somewhere between SPanky and me on the stalk scale. But you get extra creepy point for being married with children.

Extra creepy points. Excellent. I've always been a bit low on creepy points.

Can't you just ask massage guy for a happy ending?

The rain eliminated any temperature inversion (hotter close to the ground) that helps to dissipate the smog through rising warm air. (this is why smog is often worse in winter) When it rained, the ground became cooler, so the smog was trapped. Since the rain didn't eliminate it all, you saw brown.

Or maybe my ass is particularly loqacious this afternoon.

Riddle me this:

When Charlie Sheen plays a Cleveland Indian, they win the World Series.

When he plays a ChiSock, they go down in scandal.

Conspiracy?

Smog here is worst in late summer/early fall. So I stopped reading your theory after your second parenthetical.

Next.

No offence to Cooter, but I stopped reading before I started. You have three choices:

-deal with it;
-invent a weather machine;
or
-move.

Analysing the causes and meteorology behind it is BO-ring. Unless your Storm Field or someone like that.

Notwithstanding Burger's talking ass, wind is what clears the smog. Rain does not have much of an effect on smog or pollen.
