Dear Umlaut,
You think you're so damn cool, huh? Just hanging out, chillin', above all those vowels. You're all, "Ooh, look at me, I'm a chic umlaut. I make girls' names look modish, like Zoë and Chloë, and I rock with strung out '80s metal bands!"
Well, guess what? You're only an umlaut if you're modifying the pronunciation of a singular vowel, like in "Führer" or "über." If you're stressing the second of two consecutive vowels or one that would usually be silent according to common English usage, you're just a plain old boring dieresis. How 'bout that, you naïve jackass? God, you're such a poseur, umlaut. You're nothing but two measly dots. You're a Eurotrash colon lying down. Nobody thinks you're cool.
Sincerely,
Josh Abraham

So, like, what made you decide to edit the above-quoted post to change it from "BOTD" (in response to my "Hi, Atticus!" post) to "nevermind"? Was the "BOTD" and impulse post that you later regretted? Was it just a case of a post that seemed funny after a few cocktails, but did look so pretty in the harsh flourescent light of sobriety? Did something else happen in between when you posted the "BOTD" and the edit that made you want to get rid of the "BOTD"?
I am wearing pleated pants again today. Pleated pants and a simple white dress shirt. Despite the fact that Sebastian Dangerfield would be appalled if he saw me, I think I look O.K. In fact, I probably could even get away with wearing a neckerchief today, if the pattern were sufficiently tasteful. I may run down to Saks, where I imagine I can find all manner of neckerchiefs.

I missed that atticus had said hello to you, and you were only being polite. I had thought the hello was a snide reply to Atticus, and I am trying to be friendlier to him. At a funeral the other day, a minister told us all " He knew, if you want friends, be friendly." Now I'm telling you.
You know for pocket hankerchiefs, if you have to blow buger out, you can use it, do you do that with a neckerchief?

Good advice. Do you consider me unfriendly?

Socks that are confusingly similar should be flipped and deleted upon first posting.
Socks that are used for no other purpose than to clog up the board should be flipped and deleted.

They kicked Puff's Daddy off for abusive posting.
also, is Penske back as one of these socks, or did she mean one of the "new" Penskes?

Stopping cribbing your material from the forum's edit_redirect page, flower. To wit:
You had to edit your post? What, are you trying to hide something? Or was it just so dumb that you shouldn't have posted in the first place and wanted to rectify your mistake? I'm going with the latter.

Tony Randall
Until reading his obituary, I did not realize that TR (whose [not who's] birth name is possibly the most Jewish-sounding name I've ever heard -- but I can't remember it now) was married for over 50 years to the same woman. She died of cancer in the early 90s apparently, and they didn't have children. I suppose I can understand his desire to have children so late in life a little better, but, really, he was in his 70s! Whoa.

Penske is on hiatus, but he misses you all and loves you all like the brothers and sisters he never had, or may have had, as the case may be. I hope this clears things up.
