You seem to be assuming that this 16 year old kid's celebrity somehow accellerates her maturation instead of (like everyone else in this town) regressing the process.

Yes, I'm still thinking about it too, partially because I rewatch a few minutes of it each night.

The montage was fantastic, perfect, really moving. The scenes and the music worked so perfectly together.

I really liked the way Claire became the focal point at the end - and that she did appear to hold on to hope as long as she possibly could. Also, it's really a testament to the writers that the storylines did not wrap up too exceedingly neatly -- with one exception: I thought David's recovery from his unbearable grief and trauma was too quick and the dream where he hugs the demon that is he was a trifle cheesy. That said, it's clear that he was in treatment and on meds and so it's not entirely ludicrous that he had a breakthrough moment. On the other hand, I thought Brenda's dream about the two Nates was an excellent device for showing her progress toward forgiving herself, and her peace didn't appear to come about too quickly at all.

The finale totally redeemed the series, which at many times last season and this one left me cold, PNEU.

While it didn't come quickly, I thought that it was all too abrupt. I didn't really get how demon "the kid sucks" Nate morphed so quickly into "I love this kid" Nate.

Kate Winslet was in my grocery store (in CT -- the middle of nowhere -- WTF was she doing there?!!? My neighborhood better not turn into some famous-people getaway.) Anyway, she's not fat. She's taller than I would have expected, and she's not skinny -- but definitely not fat. Not even full-figured.

Because Nate wasn't Nate, he was Brenda's conjuring of Nate. I took the dream to mean that she forgave him for being such a dick throughout her pregnancy and faced her longstanding doubts about whether she would be a good mother. Since the baby was doing pretty well and she had resolved things with Ruth and brought Maya home, it was time.

I didn't have a problem with that. She realised that Nate would have loved their child regardless. In fact, the whole "this kid sucks" Nate was really only just in her head.

eta: rp said it better than I did. No one is surprised by this.
