New Question

Well, everything is waaaay overpriced here. Other than London, where do you pay $ 2800 for a 1BR apartment? But as for not finding it, that is a tragic overstatement.

As for decent - we have the more restaurants here than anywhere else, so there are plenty of decent - if not fantastic - resturants in that genre. The cuisine may be different, however, as California-Mexicans tend to have their own fare.

Okay, fair enough, didn't know Brooklyn was so large! Anyways, he is moving to Ozone Park, bordering Queens.

Dang, won't complain ever again about rental prices in the Bay Area, plus you get snow, lovely! We were just wondering about certain types of food items, specifically produce itmes (fruits and vegtables). And ya, I guess Californias do have a certain different taste for Mexican/Latin foods. Am looking for small, out of the way places, that would know how to cook Mexican/Latin American foods, not over-priced "cusine", can't stand the way certain "chefs" can kill authentic food! (BTW, am of latin american decent so have coached my friend over the years to appreciate true latino food, so he's looking for authentic, not the newest trend in food).

Thanks for all the info.

Jesus! $2800 for a 1BR apartment? Humidity or not, I'm staying in Houston, land of cheap housing (and good cheap food!). I pay less than half that for a mortgage on my much-larger-than-a-1br-house! Tell your friend to move here instead - we promise not to shoot at em.

It's a made-up gender-neutral pronoun to save you from having to type he/she or him/her or risk the wrath of those who might be outed or left out of the description.

It's not made-up; it's one of several archaic gender-neutral pronouns that TPFKADS (the poster formerly known as DebtSlave) told us about. Em was the one that caught on for FB use--probably because it's closest to the de facto gender neutral pronoun they/them/their (em instead of 'em). The original post laying out the linguistic history is still probably hanging around somewhere.

Good question, though. Maybe NS will weigh in herself on this.
Hi--just checked out the newbie board and thought I could lend a hand here--I think the newbie folks need a little education on the acronym that spawned it all, NTTAWWT. If I am explaining this too late, oh well. A Seinfeld episode had the "Not That There's Anything Wrong With That" hook when referring, I believe, to suppositions as to a person's sexual orientation. We use this all the time.

I actually wondered whether AWBC (anyone would be confused) by my mutation of NTTAWWT into a question.

Sorry! and Welcome!!

Well Francis, as it appears that you've scared all the newbies away, that might be necessary.
