I quibble. Had BTVS ended with either one of Buffy's deaths, it would have been up there.

I'm going with Seinfeld just b/c everyone else hated it, and by liking it I'm expressing my individuality.

Well, when we found out it was a baby, not a chicken, it was a little more affecting. But I remember getting irritable about his anguish over a chicken before they revealed in a startling twist that it was a baby.

The Sports Guy on the "Friends" Finale (and the "OC")
Pretty funny:
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2...simmons/040507
My favorites:
"Thinking about a guy watching "Friends" always makes me think of that Seinfeld episode when George gets back with Susan, then realizes he can't get out, and the show ends with them watching "Mad About You" together as she looks happy and he looks like he might throw up at any second."
"Suddenly, male characters were confessing "I love you" while the studio audience went bonkers -- just a room full of females shrieking in delight, like one of those Oprah episodes where Oprah gives away blenders to the entire audience."

You fell for that? Sometimes a chicken is just a chicken.

Did it turn out to be a chicken for real? I only ever saw it when it first aired. And it seems like that was a while ago.

Sledge Hammer. Although, it was just a season finale, when it aired they thought it was over.
'Despite widespread praise and a passionate fan base, "Sledge Hammer!" was apparently not destined for a second season. (After all, the old saying is… satire is what closes on Saturday nights.)
Taking a satirical, as well as fatalistic, approach to the situation… the series finale ended with an impossible to resolve cliffhanger in which Hammer, whilst attempting to disarm a nuclear warhead, obliterated his entire city.
For inexplicable reasons, the final episode showed significant improvement in the ratings.
To the surprise of many, including those who worked on the show, "Sledge Hammer!" was renewed for a second season…'

So it pretty much doesn't qualify. Although that was a fantastic show. Much more watchable had tivo been around then, so it wouldn't be on on a saturday night.

Both of Buffy's deaths would have qualified under that criteria then.

Which two deaths are you thinking of? Glory, obviously (and I can't credit it, I was just so friggin' annoyed with just about every character by then that even though I can admit that, yes, objectively, it was a pretty good finale and the final shot of the headstone was perfect, it still bugs me more than I can get over), and the Master in S1? She was alive again by the end of the ep. Was there another death I'm blanking on?

But I haven't watched for at least 5 years, so I don't think I was supposed to like it. And I am happy that it is finally over. Food does still taste good, RT. It might even taste better now, but don't tell NBC. Anyone willing to fess up to being a Friends-watcher?
|
Yes. It's really the only network show I watch (although I often miss it, because it's usually pretty hectic around my house at that time). I did watch ER last night too (a show I used to watch), but I haven't watched it regularly in a long time. It could be that last night was the only episode I've seen of this season -- and Thandie Newton is a babe.
The last couple of years have been really good. There were a few years there in the middle that were pretty so-so, but the last three years were way above average. The episode with Freddie Prinze Jr. (I think that's the guy -- the one who plays Fred in the Scooby Doo movies) as the male nanny was hilarious.
Go ahead, tease me mercilessly for liking a tv show. I can take it.
