Well it is if you're Hank. But at least you're not keeping score.

And my top 3 are the best of the bunch. All the others are just buying time.

I disagree. JD butchers as many songs as he pulls off. He just has the teenybopper contingent voting for him, so he is safe until he is forced into the bottom 3. And his attitude is attrocious. I would put Jordis on the top three talent-wise, but I have no idea if she stayed around last night, so I'm deferring on my final 3.

We were hunting it down (armed with brooms -- OK, fine. I wasn't armed with anything but my girly shrieks) and closing doors to trap it in a room. I went upstairs (b/c I didn't think it would be up there), and noticed something moving around in my son's room. It was then that the shrieking started in earnest. My son was fast asleep, but we turned on all the lights, slammed the doors, and two adults went after the bat with brooms. I helped by shrieking some more. My older son got out a belt (for protection), and after some more hollering and swatting, the bat had flapped its last. (RIP, bat)

The sleeping boy was never the wiser. I have to say, I can't look at the toy rubber bats my kids have in quite the same way anymore. I actually think bats are kind of cute -- when they're outside!!

You've been warned.
Oh, Nuts!

Would you beat your grandmother to death if she wandered into the wrong place by accident?

In the interests of humanity, the proper way to remove a bat is to use a tennis racket; one hit stuns the bat, who can then be put outside, where it will eat all your mosquitos (there is no accounting for taste). Something tells me you have a tennis racket around somewhere, perhaps behind the saddles and epees.

If you ask nicely, I will also tell you how to get squirrels out of your attic.

NutS!

Um, you know, I was really flattered by your invitation, but something suddenly came up and I think won't be in the NY area that weekend.

(Gwinky, check your PM).

Chicken.

I don't know why this chicken is Canadian. Maybe it's maple flavored.

Actually, it's all about whiffing and tits. Not necessarily in that order.

I recently read a book on the Crusades and came across some squirrel trivia. In the original French, Cindarella's slippers were made of squirrel fur, and not glass. Apparently, the French words for "glass" and "squirrel" are similar, leading to translator error. Fascinating, huh?

The fact that I think about socks when reading about slippers concerns me.

Poker Tournament Update

Alas, I will not be playing today in the final table of the Ladies Night WPT event. I'm sure you are all shocked. I actually had an earlier exit than I would have anticipated on a pretty bad beat. But that freed up my evening to go into the other room and watch the final table for the upcoming season's Legends of Poker tournament. I am an audience participant. I'll have to watch the show when it is broadcast to determine whether my performance as Audience Member is IMDB-worthy or not. I sat two rows behind a guy with his face painted blue, for those of you Tivoing the upcoming season.

I have a WPT spoiler or two (not relating to the actual tournament), so if you are interested, highlight and read the white text below:

Shauna Hiatt is gone. The official version is that she left the show because she is getting married in October. Maybe married people don't generally hold jobs or something, I don't know. The unofficial speculation is that she is gone because her ex- is pretty high up in the production of the show and he wanted her gone. The new chick sux. 5 foot nothing, blonde, tanned bimbette. Mr Man was distraught when I broke the news.
Update to the update:

One of my friends made the final table last night and finished 7th (only the first place person got a seat in the Ladies Night show). I didn't see her in the hundred or so people who were playing at 11:45 when I left, but I got the word today. She must have been there until dawn.

A male squirrel can also smell a female squirrel in heat from a mile away. Or over the internet. Nifty Squirrel Facts

And Ashley Judd kept a pet squirrel. Nothing like cuddlying up to Ashley!

Is it just me or is Mickey Rourke intentionally turning himself into Danny Bonaduce?

Canadians - please discuss.
Funny, it's been running through my head all week. That and "When the Levee Breaks."

It's the Tragically Hip's most popular and enduring work. It's one of the best songs ever written, with a structure that makes it ideal for live performances (they often riff off into other things after the second chorus). But Canadians are a sensitive lot, and I think it will be shelved for awhile.

By the way, it's Gord Downie, not Gordon. I think there may be another Gordon in the band, however.

Gord/Gordon is the most Canadian of names.

The picture of Mickey Rourke made me think he was separated at birth from the Heat Miser, but googling reveals that the Heat Miser does not have facial hair. How could I have remembered that wrong?

Doesn't he use "Gordon" for his poetry book(s)?

50 mission cap is my favorite hip song.

Doug is also one of the most Canadian of names.
