I think half my firm works for the federal government, no one is in the office today.

After I revive my husband with the smelling salts we ordinarily keep on hand for reviving me after overhearing or reading grammatical and usage gaffes, I suss out the real gravamen of my son's desire to be a fashion model. All he really wants is to ride in a limousine!
'Splain to him that at some point, Simon will get his ass kicked in by the cool kids, if there are any cool kids 'round your parts.

Jesus, what a horrible thing to do to a kid, name him Simon. Might as well name him Weenis, PeePee, Jane or Douche.

I believe strongly in the federal government, so I am using them as a role model. I even "telecommuted" yesterday.

Long Live Citrix, the bringer of all that is good.

They are also looking for an AGC.

I say, to hell with Citrix. Just another electronic leash which leaves no excuse for not drafting documents in your copious free time.

And don't even get me started on those crackberry thingies.

Citrix generally sucks (at least our implimentation of it does) but it does bring the goodness of which you speak.

If by "goodness" you mean the ability to work during what used to be your free time, then yes.

The Cisco VPN we have has functioned quite well, even in a mac environment. Fortunately, the powers that be don't seem to be entirely familiar with it, which means it's still for my convenience, not theirs.

I'm on it. Since a W hotel is going in, I figure the city is an up and comer.

What makes you say that?

Let's say that I live near enough by that I could meet someone for dinner if they were interviewing in Fort Lauderdale.

And plenty of people knew. Just not, apparently, you.

Mr. Man ultimate goal if stuck in firm life on a long-term basis:

Use phone and Citrix to telecommute to most things, flying to clients when necessary. Relocate "office" to appropriate islands at least 2 hours east of NY so I can stay out til 2 every day and not have to be in the "office" until at least 11 am. Islands I think would include Azores and Canaries. Rio is also in the appropriate time zone.

Citrix sucked for us until the XP upgrade. Now it is identical to being in the office.

Are they really this dumb in Houston?

Is this the stupidest thing you'll see for a while? Or is this what passes for humor down there?

Yup, that is what I mean.

Alas, some of the higher-ups appear fixated on the notion that exposure to my face (as opposed to my work product) somehow enhances their lives...

We're running it in an XP environment as well, and it is still slow as a motherfucker.
