Caught the Redwalls in a free noon show here in my humble little cow town. Pretty good. Definite classic rawk vibe; SD's Crow's comparison is appropriate, with a healthy dose of Beatles/Brit pop (especially vocal harmonies) and a Dylan fetish. They played a smokin' "When I Paint My Masterpiece." Though I liked all the pieces, only a handfull of their originals really grabbed me. Good, but not jaw dropping. I'll probably buy the album.

They would have been much better in a dark room with plenty of beer or whiskey. Maybe next time. They have a SF show coming up. I'd recommend it for the Bay Area folks.

I never quit a job where I didnt have an accepted offer and a start date at a new gig. Well, I did once when I was about 22 and learned that my dad was right. Its a lot harder to find a job when you dont currently have one. Would never make that mistake again.

I'm seeing them open for Ok Go in two weeks. I have the CD (bought on Sebby's suggestion), but I let Mr Man take it first. I need to swap him for it.

I have - 3 times. Amazing. I've turned down two substantial counteroffers. I assume everyone I work for is an idiot based on this. How could I possibly respect someone who'd counteroffer me?

The only honest comment I ever got was one guy who said "You really don't want to do anything behind a desk, do you? You'd have never made partner because its very obvious." I liked that guy. You couldn't bullshit him.

It's the Tragically Hip's most popular and enduring work. It's one of the best songs ever written, with a structure that makes it ideal for live performances (they often riff off into other things after the second chorus). BTW, NCS... try out the 22-20s. Their recent cd is even better than the Redwalls, and heavier. I love the Redwalls, but the 22-20s blow even them away. Sorry I forgot to recommend them to you earlier. It slipped my mind.

The Secret Machines ain't bad, are they? Nowhere Again is just one of those tunes you can't get out of your head, and sounds great no matter how many times you hear it. Their drummer is the shit. I love that fat Bonham sound he gets.
