I forget; was it Less or Plate who had the organ-harvesting business plan?

I believe it was PASD that coined the name "Lessinmengele"

Sure, but can you trust anything Post-Ass said, given the whole liking-naked-children thing?

I am not a brain surgeon, and I am definitely not qualified to discuss this. However, the bottom line, is no matter how much the liberals exaggerate the negative impact of the President's decision on Stem Cell, the Presdient's decision on Stem Cell was really, really, really stupid. You don't need to be an expert to understand that.
I am glad Michael J. Fox is making such a stink about this, because the sort of stupid thinking that went into preventing the biological material in question being used for stem cell research needs to be fought vigorously.
So I will make one of my stupid, simplistic political conclusions.
"The more stem cell research the better".

Kinsley is too smart to miss - so he is willfully ignoring - the related argument that once you go down the road of willfully destroying embryos, what is stop anyone to go further down the road - cloning, organ harvesting, etc.
Where will the science stop?

Slave, don't become the Republican version of Ty. The Slippery Slope argument is always B.S. You have no truck with the Stem Cell research argument? You don't have anything against the advancement of science being obstructed because some idiot bible thumpers think a bunch of biological goup has a soul?

In about 2012 the research solves a problem I didn't realize I had. It turns out I had pernicous synapse gaps. thankfully researchers had just solved that problem. Within 3 months I was fully cured. Coincidentally that is when I started posting my own thoughts instead of the blog cut and pastes.
So I say support the research- it vastly improves this board.

Why are you being so nice all of a sudden. The one area in which the Republicans and the administration are the most out of line and you have decided to be nice. Shame on you. Maybe saying they are out to kill Micahel J. Fox might be a little extreme, but you could say that they are trying to make sure that he has absolutely no chance of ever being cured because of religious dogma.

I really do not think they were out to kill Michael J. Fox - until now.

I actually take the religious argument seriously, but my understanding is that stem cell research does not require a large number of embryonic stem cells (and is functioning now with just a handful of lines). It's a small number - not enough to create a huge demand for "harvesting" new embryos. So the researchers just need access to a modest number of embryos that are going to die anyway.
The choice is my mind is to have or not have these embryos die for naught. The rest of it is more emotion than logic.

No less an authority than Mojo Nixon declared Michael J. Fox to be the Anti-Elvis. Would it really be so bad to kill him?

Every time I think I can't be more disappointed in you, you come up with a statement like this.
If the Embryo is not in a womb who cares what is done with it?

(psst - read the rest of my post - as long as we are dealing with one doomed embryo, I agree with you - if, in some way, shape or form, embryonic stem cell research resulted in an incentive to create new embryos to destroy, I'd start worrying).

OK. But if you start quoting Dr. Dobson to me you are coming off my Christmas card list.

The cruelty lies in what I've seen in the approach of the "vote for this, and we can save you now in spite of what those horrid religious fanatics want!" campaign. (Yes, hyperbole.) It's NOT going to result in any immediate, or even relatively quick, usable results. I'd say, not for my generation, or maybe even the next.

So you think the Dems shouldn't have run the ad on this issue by the most familiar spokesperson on the issue - how do you feel about the bimbo ads by Corker's supporters? The Rush Limbaugh attack on Michael J. Fox? Or any of the other attack ads being run?
The M.J. Fox ad speaks more directly to a relevant issue than any ad I have seen this season from the Rs. Whatever else you may say about it or think about the issue.
