As we sit and bitch and whine...
About whether we'll have enough money to feed our gutless consumption machine society, it's probably a good idea to consider what some actually amazing people say every now and again... I just read this quote from Nelson Mandela regarding P.W. Botha, a staunch Apartheid proponent who'd been Mandela's jailer for over a decade:
"While to many Mr Botha will remain a symbol of apartheid, we also remember him for the steps he took to pave the way towards the eventual peacefully negotiated settlement in our country."
We're really a pack of insignificant boors, aren't we?

And the anthrax. Everyone forgets about the anthrax.

Sebby means "no terrorist attacks in the United States in the last six years that weren't Bill Clinton's fault."

Also, to be fair:
Cuba hasn't invaded either Florida or Colorado.
The world economy hasn't collapsed into anarchy. Yet.
Mutants possessing awe-inducing powers do not roam free on our streets menacing the populace.
Robots have not enslaved the earth. Yet.

The only mistake Kerry's made is his predictable gutless quasi-apology. I knew what he meant. You knew what he meant. Everyone with enough brains to know not to enlist in the fucking Army these days knew what he meant. His point was very sharp and properly nasty for this election season. He could have shoved it right down the fucking GOP's throat when they came back with that tired and utterly disingeneuous charge that he was insulting soldiers. But instead of saying "I meant what I said - this war is being fought with the blood of people the GOP doesn't care about, and are being manipulated/forced into service," he apologized.
That is why John Kerry is and always will be a loser. His instincts are for shit and his wife carries his balls in a Crown Royal bag on her Gulfstream. He should hide under a desk in the Senate, where his ugly chickenshit kind belong, muttering to themselves about whay they can't connect and patting themselves on the back about their suspicious medals. They should let W kick Kerry in the ass with a wingtip at every Skull and Bones function for the rest of their lives. Al Gore has bigger balls and a quicker tongue, and people say he's mildly retarded...

LA airport, 2002. 2 dead, six shot. It's why you don't hear Bush saying no terrorist attacks on his watch.*
And a few school schootings, but the shooters were American so it doesn't count, right.
*Other than the ones he blames on Clinton.

To be fair, they did stop a right wing nutjob. Seems odd that they wouldn't want to highlight their accomplishment.

Since I missed his apology, I just took a look at the Washington Post, which doesn't say anything about it. Instead, it quotes Kerry as saying:
- "I make apologies to no one about my criticism of the President and his broken policy that kills and maims our heroes in Iraq every single day. This pathetic attempt to distort a botched joke about President Bush is a shameful effort to distract from a botched war."
You're mailing it in today, aren't you?

The Democratic Party should pay him to have his mouth surgically sealed.
