I just finished washing the dinner dishes and am listening to the Pogues' "Thousands Are Sailing." I'm crying like a fucking baby. And I'm not even drinking this time.

Gena Lee Nolin Sex Tape and other Reality Thoughts

Good stuff, but I am waiting for the full tape before I get real to it. Speaking of real, some random reality TV thoughts I am currently having
Amazing Race - They fucking took app's for AR6 without publicizing it. The time has passed. Bastards, even putting aside that they took Alison from Big Brother 3 instead of me for AR5.
American Idol - I would have like to see Stevenzzz do Big Band. Although a couple of these contestants will do fine, none of them have the charisma of Ruben or Clay, and I suspect none will do as well as Clay. Fantasia has the voice and potentially the personality, but she can come off as haughty and pouty. London is my prediction to win (not that that is going out on a limb).
Real World - Are they not going to show any footage related to rape charges that were made by a guest (not a cast member) of the house at a party against another non-cast member guest? Allegedly, the girl was passed out (or close) drunk in the bathroom when whatever happened happened. Initially, Bunim/Murray wouldn't even give up copies of the tapes to the police. I can see that they might not choose to air much about it due to liability and the pending actions, but they haven't so much as mentioned it. That said, I was glad to see Brad finally get his rocks off (with a consenting adult).
Real World/Road Rules - The Inferno: Will it never end as they fail miserably in their attempts to eat their own each week? Could Coral, CJ, Abe and Veronica be more unlikeable? Gag me with a maggot.
The Casino - Another Burnett show coming in June (along with AR6 and BB4) that takes place in a casino?!?! He is 3 for 3 - Survivor, Aprpentice and his old EcoChallenge shows. This can only rock. Whoo Hoo!
Survivor - Now it gets fun. Don't forget the penultimate show this Thursday is followed by the 2-hour finale this Sunday.

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being cheap and dirty and 1 being clean I give it a 3.8. All in all it was a pretty clean hit, at least as clean as 80% of the other hits out there.
Leafs had many chances -- they played the whole overtime around the Flyers' net, except for that last odd man rush and BANG. Philly DOES know how to administer the kill shot.
I think Tampa Bay/Philly is going to be one hell of a series. I might even try to go to a game, by either risking death going to nearby Philly with a Martin St. Louis jersey or by flying to Tampa.

If MacGowan found out that you were listening to the Pogues and not drinking, he'd knock your fucking teeth in.

I want to apologize to the fine city of Toronto.
I am so pissed about the Flyers winning that game that I can't even express myself in a 5-7-5 format. After coming back to tie it from being down two goals, and having that flurry of chances in OT .... argh. I was really expecting a Leafs/Habs conference final -- it would have been a flashback to the slot hockey games of my youth (when older brother Not Nick forced me to become a Leafs fan).
As for the hit, I thought it was clean. Mostly. On replays, I could see where it could have been called as boarding. But as much as I hate the Flyers (and their pumpkin orange uniforms and Bobby Clarke and ....), I felt sorry for Sammi, and was extremely impressed that he made it out of the zone and to the bench without triggering a whistle. As Big Ed said, he's a HOCKEY PLAYER.

Agreed. And JR is the man.
As for the hit, I'd say it was clean. And you have to credit Kapanen for somehow making it off the ice under his own power.

AI review
well well well, quite a show. I think I like big band music
Diana- I cant bear her and fast forwarded most of it. What I briefly heard sounded on tune and yelly, which the teenages from the south seem to like so she is probably safe.
george- concur it was a safe performance but I just love the guys voice. I worry for him bc a safe perf on top of some mediocrity and proof that Diana has legs puts him injeopardy. That said., I tried to vote for him at various points in the voting time alloted and could not once get through.
latoya- I for once loved a performance. that first song was one of the best AI performances ever. second one not as good but thats the first time I was really liking her. which is a good sign for her since, as Christina Darling would say "I am not one of your fans"
Jasmine- worst perfoamcnes of the night. off tune at times, couldnt really hold a note at times. she sounded like she had a sore throat or something? I think she will be gone bc she was the worst by a longshot. she certainly deserves it and i think we are getting to the meritocracy part of the show
Fantasia was fantastic. Her second song is probably my alltime favorite AI performance ever. I actually went back and listened to it two more times. I just loved it and it brought me to tears also. I tried to vote for her and could not get through. I think she is going to win the whole shebang as well she should. She is special, even if she is an annoying buckwheat trump at times. \\\
George and Jasmine bottom two with Jasmine gone.

I can't believe anyone would rather have people think a 12-14 year old hung himself while jerking off to internet porn than that he committed suicide -- if for no other reason than because other kids might try it to see what the appeal is and accidentally kill themselves.

People deal with guilt and loss in fucked up ways. This may be outable, but a close friend was telling me a story about a friend of the family who had killed himself. He was about 19, had struggled with serious depression his entire life, had recently graduated from high school, been told by his family he was one his own (even though they knew he was off medication and out of regular medical care) and been cut off from his family when they moved across the country. At his funeral, his mother gave a speech about how horrible depression is and how it wasn't the family's fault. Everybody apparently thought that was a little self-serving, and apparently a lot of people did think it was the family's fault.
So, all I'm saying is, when bad shit happens, like kids committing suicide, I don't fault the parents for trying to convince themselves however they can that they weren't bad parents. Even when they were.

Copy cat auto-erotica isn't as likely as copy cat suicide.
But how can a 12-14 year old already be so bored with normal beating off that he had to go to auto-erotica already. That should come up in college, if ever.

Concur. The most effective parenting technique in this regard is not to tell the kid masturbation is "wrong," because that will merely romanticize its extreme forms. Rather, do what my parents did: tell them masturbation is perfectly okay, but they don't deserve to masturbate. (I think this is from the Talmud.)

E-mail Jokes
This would have been better if I could have posted it earlier, but alas... (you know the rest).
Here's an e-mail joke I received today (among a list of many, most of which are of questionable taste, so I won't post them here) that fits in nicely with the discussion of late:
- What's the difference between a porcupine and a BMW?
A porcupine has the pricks on the outside.
Here are a few that the folks at home might enjoy:
- What do attorneys use for birth control?
Their personalities.
Why is it so hard for women to find men that are sensitive, caring, and good-looking?
Because those men already have boyfriends.
Why does Mike Tyson cry during sex?
Mace will do that to you.
And as a special shout-out to Penske (we hardly knew ye):
- Why is Chelsea Clinton so homely?
Because Janet Reno is her real father.
Thank you, thank you... So..., I just flew in from NY, and boy are my arms tired!

I go with, "if you feel a need to play with your penis, go to your bedroom because we're not interested in watching" (my sons are 3 and 4)
