Also, I think almost all Calicos and Tortoiseshells are female; those that are male have an extra x-chromosome or something. Tabby cats are stripey, and you can tell a tabby by the M stripe on the head. I am pretty sure that Calico refers to cats with big orange and black discrete markings on a white base. Squishy's markings are too stripey and blended to be Calico, and she doesn't have enough white.
Now I am really confused. If Tabby and Calico just refer to coloration then how can it be related to sex. So do I have three Tabbies then? Or are there other color options?

Seems kinda woodsy but still the burbs. My question is this: we know he doesnt use litterboxes. Hes got three cats peeing in the yard where there is a lot of sunshine. How does it not reek like a bottle of ammonia?

Simple test:

1) Are there water and food dishes sitting out there?
2) Do the cats have names?

All three were in the same litter. I don't know if that is an issue with regards to whether they are tabbies or Calico. Their mother looked just like Sam. Squishy is female, Sam and Porkchop are male. Porkchop is much bigger and more muscular than the other two.

Porkchop runs away from any human but me. Sam growls at strangers (or anything alive for that matter - except Skunks) but if someone comes around enough Sam will stop hiding from them. Squishy will rub up against any human being. Some of my employees have never even seen Sam or Porkchop.
Who exactly are these "employees" that you take to the Top of the Mark?

All animals love me. You should see how horses react to me. Starstruck. I bet those cats come to me the minute I am seated.

This "partner" was involved in the record label I worked at and he turned out to be a complete screw up. He was a producer at Epitaph and we brought him over to produce albums for our label. His house got repossessed by the bank so he moved in with me. He was in a pretty big band for years, and their warm up band for about six years was No Doubt. He looked down on No Doubt as a bunch of second rate lame musicians. He was also allergic to cats.
Why is partner in parenthesis? HE was obviously your better half. Tragic Kingdom is possibly the most dreadful record ever made. Put that on, and I will go running screaming out tof the room. If we are in a car, I will make you pull over and let me out. THat album is a Crime Against Nature.

In order to get him to go to work I would let Mathilda in the house and crank Tragic Kingdom on the Stereo.
On one hand, I like your tough brand of love for your "partner", but on the other hand, you own this album? Not Good. Have you ever Made Love to it?

One day when Mathilda was in the house she had kittens in my walk in closet. She was a really mean alley cat, who often got into fights. She would rip your hand off if you tried to pet her. She got into a bad fight when the kittens were four weeks old. I took her to the vet but she died on the operating table.
Thats a very sad story. Serioulsy.

The Vet told me the kittens did not have a chance. But the owner of the local pet store taught me how to feed them with a syringe which had to be done every four hours. Total nightmare.
Not only do I love you for your kindness to animals, it sounds like someone is ripe for mantrapping.

The house I live in now has two acres of land. Every house in the area has two acres. There are tons of dogs but if they tried to mess with these cats they would get hurt pretty badly. When they were not fully grown they messed up my neighbors doberman pretty badly. I had to pay a pretty big vet bill.

They kill everything in the yard including possums and squirells. It is animal aushwitz out there.
And you want my cute dog to go to Spankyland? I knew Less was setting me up. Kudos. You win. The death of my dog would really put me over the edge. Of coure he used to drag my former cat Streudel (named for the series of dead drop kick dogs in "Under the Rainbow" because I went through a serires of orange cats who died prematurely] around by his tail, just for kicks. That cat was a fat, flaccid meatloaf though.

(Brief biology interlude)

Females have two X chromosomes, but only one of them is active in any given somatic cell. During embryogenesis, at some stage (16 or 32 cell, I think) there is a random turning off of one X chromosome in every cell. This results in a patchiness, where some cells have one X turned off, and some have the other.

In cats, some coat color regulation is X linked. And in some cats one X chromosome codes for black, and the other codes for orange. Obviously, only a female cat will have this situation; a male will have either the black or the orange.

As the X chromosomes are inactivated, some cells have the black, and some the orange. Hence the calico/tortoiseshell coloring. Impossible in a male cat unless there is an odd chromosomal translocation or extra X chromosome present.

Other coat color factors like agouti, or tabby striping, don't depend on the base color. So there are orange tabbies, brown tabbies, and with yours - a sort of calico tabby.

No. The Mad Digger remains, digging madly. I have switched to the extruded pine stuff as litter, so the mad digging is less annoying.

I don't even remember posting about the mad digging.

Now I am confused. Though that was interesting. How do you explain the fact that most orange cats are male? Does this mixed female coloration happen most of the time?

No and only if "the white one" is a name.

Before Streudel moved to the farm and Billy Ray Valentine bought the farm, I had discovered those crystals cat littler. That stuff was awesome. And so lightweight. Billy Ray was a mad digger and i kept the litterbox near the firewood. So as I burned logs (which I used to do daily for seventy perceont of the year or so), little white clumps of crystals would appear on the wood. Remindded me o f my time in the snowy woods of rural Maine and Colorado.

BUt I had a nice ceelbration throwing the shit house out once I finally decatted. whata hassle and mess.
