Who is saying it makes him like a "bad, bad man."

If anything, everyone is saying it makes him look like a fucking idiot.

I don't mean to detract from the above -- really -- but you do choose to live in San Francisco, which makes it hard for you to say that you are really one of your own.

Though it makes it possible for me to buy you a martini if you want one.

And looking like a fucking idiot is something Republicans know a thing or two about.

You see post after post after post where Repubs make personal, non-issue based, ad hominen attacks against Kerry/Edwards, then follow those with pictures showing Kerry and Edwards looking like they are having a romantic embrace (with commentary to the same effect), and you think they are not (1) making a suggestion of homosexuality and (2) saying that homosexuality is a bad thing? Please.

I suppose when you see pictures of Ashcroft and Hitler juxtaposed, you believe that the comment is that Ashcroft wears too much black and cuts his hair too short.

Well what does that make me then?

Fer chrissakes Sidd, even Leno and Letterman did bits on Kerry's constant man-handling of Edwards. I didn't realize these 2 were now part of the gay bashing VRWC.

He just looks like a dope. Or a kid at Xmas that can't contain himself over getting Teddy Ruxpin.

Neither of which looks good.

Ah, shit.

Hank, I knew this day would come, I just didn't think it would come so quickly. I've not had time to prepare you. Here, have a seat.

Here's the thing. Most poster personas lead lives of quiet desperation, where their meager contributions to the fray get slapped down, laughed at, or worst, ignored. They slink away from the community until their self-esteem has recovered sufficiently to bear more punishment. Think Not Me.

There's a small group of posters, though, who through some combination of wit, smarts, talent or simply moronic bullheadedness break through the noise barrier and soar above it for some period of time. You've had your moment in the sun, and had time to spread your wings and see what you can do.

The arc of the poster's career travels along a few signposts:

1. Arrival on the scene. Usually it involves insulting Slave, picking a fight with Paigow, flirting with Fringe, or licking MR's butt. All risky moves, no doubt, and I can't remember which one you chose, but whatever- you're here.

2. Ground in the persona. Obviously, scatalogical humor is your goal. The hit-miss ratio is imposing to many but not you, my friend. Don't listen to TM's shit about a plus/minus ratio. When you swing for the fences, one can't be held to some Mendoza line as a barometer of success, right?

3. Get props from the peers. It's rare, sure, but from the right person they can be golden. This is the kind of thing that you'll talk to your grandkids about it someday. Hell, do it today, if you want.

4. Hit, and struggle through, your blue period Sometimes the scatalogical is, well, just scatalogical. There are too many sample to choose from here, so let's just say that the little drinkie-poo turns the posting into poo too. Fortunately, we're all glad that those days of involuntary confinement at Trembling Hills paid off, and though it appears that you've fallen off the wagon every other day or so, at least your wagon has a ladder to which you can hang on, get dragged for a few yards, and eventually pull yoursef back up.

5. Become your own catchphrase. The truest sign that You've Arrived. Sure, it might be unfortunate for your name catchphrase to carry connotations of mental instability, but it could be worse. At least you're not the name of a cable soft porn series.

Unfortunately, the shooting star too often leads to delusions of grandeur, which takes us to ...

6. Lose all tethering to reality, as self worth ascends like a blimp. And here we are. Last person who felt that the board could not possibly continue without em was Paigow.

You've noticed what's happened in that case, right? She's disappeared, and now become a mere figment of Penske's imagination, and there are few worse hells than that.

So, even though the maneuver may be challenging, jump back over that shark. Find that humility you left on the floor, pick up the broken trumpet and play a few notes, and get back into the game.

I should have known. You and your ilk have sold so much of your souls to the dark side that the innocent joy of Christmas morning on a child's face revolts you. Next you'll be bashing motherhood and apple pie.

Is this before or after mom lost her job because the minimum wage increase or when we ran out of apples because they were possibly genetically modified?

If hillary came out not one of us would call her out for it. but she does the fake "I'm hurt Bill was sticking cigars up Monica" thing. So the fact that she is homosexual is raised by P. not because it is itself bad, but rather because it is another example of her lying.

The kerry Edwards thing isn't gay-bashing because the Pres and VP aren't suppose to cuddle. fuck in this terrorism filled world they're not even supposed to be together much. did mondale paw at Ferraro? No.

you want to talk about homophobia? Read Ty's post re. Ms. rice earlier this very day. or do you have Ty on ignore?

PLF's a known padder. My bill (in the mail) is for $560, and it's a great deal.

I don't get why you or anyone else would think Hillary is lesbian, although maybe you're trying to be funny.

Trying much too hard to be funny. Give it a rest.

I didn't say she was. Penske did. sidd said that meant Penske is a homophobe. i was explaining, to SIDD, why he had junped to an erroneous conclusion.

Not trying to be funny. You aren't homophobic, i really don't know but am willing to accept. but Sidd said Penske was anti-gay for saying Hillary was, and he said all all Republicans hate gays. I was just pointing out that Ty himself had posted something "worse" earlier today. Worse in the sense that you know P. is on an anti-Clinton jones. It isn't as clear that you were just messing.

and you want some honesty? You give defending Sidd a rest. He comes on like one nasty shit and everyone is suppose to be nice? bs. you walk the walk, i'll outline you in chalk.

Bullshit. The right wing was making Hillary lesbian jokes long before anyone heard of Monica.

Some of them were actually pretty funny -- like "How did Bill and Hillary meet in college? They were both dating the same girl." But that's besides the point. When you constantly use "lesbian" as a way to insult your enemy, it's pretty hard to claim that you don't view "lesbian" as a pejorative term.

Of course, no one would suggest that the right-wing gets just a wee bit uncomfortable seeing a smart, successful, powerful woman and just has to start calling her a lesbian, and virtually every other name in the book, to soothe their own inadequacies.
