Wow!! That's hilarious!! He made a funny-looking face when someone took his picture while he was on the water!! And he fell!!
I can't imagine anyone would think he was fit to be President!! He ought to act like Bush, and spend 3 weeks a month on vacation so he can practice essential skills like yachting, cutting wood, and slapping cows on the ass!!

Right. There was no reason for anyone to question Bork's appointment.
And the Repubs didn't bitch at all about the opposition to Bork. They just very bravely and serenely said "well, that's the democratic process in action, and we respect the views of the representatives of the people."
Penske, you're a parody of yourself.

Of course, all the notable players have flipped sides.

I've thought that this entire Berger discussion is pretty silly -- partisan sniping at its worst, in many ways. And it bothers me greatly that Dems seem to be defending him. Perhaps they are simply trying to question the timing of the leak or the use of the story, but that really doesn't cut it.
And I think the above post really nails the issue on the head.
The right thing to do (and, I think, the politicaly intelligent thing -- but that is not what I mean) is to push Berger aside, push for a proper investigation, and say that you are disappointed in him. At most, you reserve judgment until some questions are answered, but even if this was accidental it is very disappointing. If it was intentional, it is much worse.

honest question
I heard (honestr Slave I haven't seen) F911 has a bit where Mike talks to Army truck drivers about how little they make and how much Halliburton drivers make in comparision. His very cogent point is that we invaded Iraq so that bush can line the pockets of truck drivers.
Anyway with all the beheaded drivers, I wonder if he's feeling any shame?

His point is that we don't treat the soldiers that we send off to die very well, and that the least we can do is make sure that when we send them off to die, it is really and truly necessary to protect the country.
The point is slightly more cogent when you don't view it through the filter of the National Review.

Keep talking about Berger and Wilson, Slave. God Bless.

It is infinitely more interesting than the Lance-fest going on over on the FB.
It's like NASCAR for the elitist-wannabes.

Since he was preparing to testify in front of the 9/11 Commission about his role as Clinton NSA, it's hardly surprising that he was looking at that type of document.

Yeah, I was thinking about posting something along the lines of "who the fuck cares?" but then I remembered that my hockey posts and Yankees Schadenfreude Haiku (patent pending) might trigger similar feelings. Fricken blue state wussies.

Iraqi Nukes???
Take it for what its worth (i.e probably nothing), but Drudge is reporting the Wash Times reporting an Iraqi source reporting that several missiles with nuke warheads were located in a bunker under several feet of concrete.

Slave, you are really ridiculous. If this is true, it's just a partisan GOP attempt to overshadow the convention.

Yglesias, who provides a link:
- [T]he 9-11 Commission saying that whatever Berger did it in no way impacted their investigation so either this was not a cover-up, or else it was an uncommonly stupid cover-up that involved leaving the original documents in the archives.
If it was the latter, he probably shouldn't be Secretary of State.
Isn't it funny how leading Dems all want to be Secretary of State, but no one appears to be angling to be Secretary of Defense. DOD gets all the power and toys now. State gets to walk along behind the elephant with the shovel.

Nukes Reportedly Found in Iraq
Is the link working? I couldn't get through. Who's reporting the story? I hope its not the NY Post.
Nucular bombs in Iraq, my oh my. Where have they been all this time, you might ask?
Probably shoved up the asses of same prisoners in Abu Ghraib and the interrogators just found them. (or, maybe, hidden in the huge web of underground hideouts that debka.com kept talking about -- they apparently do exist).
Combine nukes in Iraq with the capture of OBL in October, and we'd better just fold up our tents. ALL HAIL BUSH!!

Here's what the Plame scandal and this Berger thing have in common: Two people's careers have been trashed because of leaks to the media. Plame certainly didn't deserve it. It's hard for me to believe that Berger did, but we shall see.
