housing prices (well, to buy) keep going up

Yes, but remember that anecdotal experiences do not trends make. There, I hear that incessant french horn playing from the neighbors has deterred potential tenants.

How much they renting it for? I could use another home office. :-)
I think the buying market may be slowing a bit, perhaps not in prices, but definitely in time on the market. Used to be you'd have your house put up for sale, and 3 days later it would be sold for over list. A few months ago, you might have to wait 2-3 weeks, but it would sell for over list. [warning - ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE COMING] But there are at least 4 homes in my neighborhood that adorable (I love open houses), seem to be priced right for the market, and they've been up for over a month, and in one case, 3 1/2 months. I haven't talked with the relevant owners or realtors, though, to know why this is the case.

Trivia tidbit of the day:
Did you know that a female kangaroo, with or without clothing, is called a Flyer?

I merged the nascent IP litigation thread into this one to try to get some more responses. Someone must be hiring. Anyone? Bueller?
Where are the Orrick recruiting department socks?

RE: What the?
Sorry Ty, I meant to put it in this thread, but obviously I didn't. Still getting used to this new board.
It does seem as if "both" boards have died. There is little conversation on either one. Maybe there is just nothing to talk about.

I'm bored. Busy, yet bored. I need a distraction, so let's play a game:
If you were casting a movie based on these boards and the personality of the socks that inhabit it, who would you cast for whom, and why?
I didn't say it was a particularly fun game....
Fine, I'll start with the SF/SV posters:
Leagl: played by a scrappy, yet vulnerable Meg Ryan
Tyrone_Slothrop: Al Pacino
c2ed: Sandra Bullock, fiesty
Sidd Finch: Ed Norton
Atticus Grinch: Martin Sheen
SlaveNoMore: Vin Diesel
Seven of Nine: Jeri Ryan
AngryMulletMan: Janeane garafalo
Threads: Julianne Moore
Klaatu B. Nikto: Gort
sgtclub: David Duchovny
Gattigap: John Cusack, before he got all serious
sgtclub: Charles Heston
I like Pooh: James Brown
Flinty_McFlint: Frankie Muniz

I see Kevin Spacey playing Atticus. And Wilford Brimley as Sidd, dispensing avuncular wisdom. Deuced might be a cross between Nicole Kidman and Janeane Garofolo, which is another way of saying, um, dunno.

Sidd will always be Gabriel Byrne in my mind. sigh.... And John Cusack plays Tyrone.
Slave = Colin Ferrell
I agree that Deuced should be played by Nicole Kidman, in a librarian chic kind of way.
Flinty should be played by Jack Black!

The Movie
Many things are best left to the imagination. I get all weirded out when I think I know a client from talking on the phone and exchanging email, and then when we finally meet in person, the picture is totally wrong.
At an old firm, a receptionist was in love with one client because of suave French accent, and I didn't have the heart to tell her how short and fat he was.

Dude. You rock.
I could only love you more if you had said Wesley Snipes. I've always wanted to be played by Wesley Snipes.
