HB&tDH SPOILERS

Preemptive thread for the speed readers. Rumors and plot threads abound on the internet, so be careful until July 21st....

Any conjectures?

Anyone rereading furiously?

The thread from the last book is here if anyone is linterested.

Oh, dear.

That shows how good my attention to detail is. I'm not going to figure out what happens until I actually read it.

I wasn't planning on re-reading the HBP until I read that thread and realized how much I'd forgotten.

I also wasn't planning to buy the book right away because so many people I know will get it on day 1 and read all night. I figured I'd borrow one of their copies. But now I'm reconsidering.

Amazingly I remained free from Pottermania until last summer. I hadn't read any of the books but started the first one and then read them straight through one after the other.

I just re-read all six books. Took about 5 weeks of pre-bed reading.

Speaking of dorks, the next Jasper Fforde "Thursday Next" book comes out only 3 days after the Potter book, so we'll all have lots of geeky books to keep us all busy.

I'm so bummed -- Minnesota isn't on the list for this year's book tour.

The first one is in my "to be read" pile (with about 20 other books). I loved loved loved The Diamond Age and I thought that Cryptimonicon wasn't bad. I'm not quite sure though if I have the stamina for the Baroque Trilogy.

My smart friend Jana Riess (author of What Would Buffy Do?) has a post about HP on her review blog.

I tried that book three times, and then finally gave it back to its owner (Less) with a shrug, a dismissive look, and a demand for a glass of Lagavulin.

It has flaws, as does every bloated thing his "editors" allow to be published, but the frequent enjoyable of exploration of having Newton, Leibniz, Huyguens and other Natural Philosophers of the time interacting, learning and experimenting (while dealing with the squalor, religion and politics of the 17th century) is phenomenal. That said, the coinciding sidestory about Jack Shaftoe has served a very limited purpose, and ineffective, so far, but we shall see.

Potter Puppet Pals

If you want an inane tune running through your head for the rest of the day, go her:

http://www.potterpuppetpals.com/

My 9-yr old brought the website to my attention recently. It is driving my wife insane.
