How would spanky vote?

He's about to decide whether or not to go through the naturalization process and become a US citizen.

He's opened a poll to determine whether or not he should stay or go. The first to reach a million votes will determine his fate. It costs $10 to vote in the poll. The poll closes on election day 2008.

If STAY wins, all votes from GO, minus taxes, expenses and legal fees will be divided between:

AMERICAN CIVIL LIBERTIES UNION
PEOPLE FOR THE AMERICAN WAY
THE GREEN PARTY
AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL
DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS

If GO wins, all votes from STAY, minus bank processing fees, taxes, and legal fees will be divided between:

THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION
FOCUS ON THE FAMILY
REPUBLICAN PARTY
CHRISTIAN COALITION
700 CLUB

If a 'GO' vote should win, departure of Alejandro C. Gomez from the United States must be completed by July 31st or 90 days thereafter - whichever is longer - immediately following the 1 million votes.

He'll keep the ten million bucks that decided the contest.
Spanky will not participate, even if a gun is held to his head. :violin:   :band:

Who's the source describing what Rove said?

And why did Rove also tell Matt Cooper the same thing, in an effort to get him off the Wilson allegations?
You mean when Cooper called Rove to talk about welfare reform and then switched topics to WMDs and asked him about Wilson? Which a Time email from Cooper has verified?

Cite please? Rove sent an email saying he talked to Cooper about welfare reform. Cooper said he doesn't recall talking about welfare reform. Cooper sent an email to someone else at time re Plame.

But either way, why did Rove respond at all with the info? It's not like Rove has to talk to reporters. He was saying it for political advantage.

ETA: What I don't get is why you're trying to make this out like an "oops". It clearly wasn't. It might be an oops to the extent he unknowingly disclosed the name of a covert agent, but not because he acted unknowingly, but because he didn't know that fact. There's no way to spin it as an oops when he told several reporters within the course of a few days and Libby was doing the same, and they were both spinning it as a reason to undermine Wilson's story.

As I said, if your view is simply that nothing that doesn't break the law is immoral or wrong, that's fine. But say it and be straight.

Rest in peace to a great Texas Democrat

One of my own has fallen. Progressive Texas women aren't that uncommon, but that one managed to get elected to be Governor is quite remarkable. That she was funny too was just an added bonus. When she left office, her popularity was still favorably polling at 60%.

Ann Richards will be missed, even by those who didn't agree with her politics.

See, that's what has me wondering. Kick him out for so there's one less voting liberal? Or embrace him for his entreprenureal spirit?

I'm sorta surprised that he's raised $10,000 so far.

I had to google a bit, but here:

First the e-mail. According to a report in Newsweek, Cooper's e-mail to Time Washington bureau chief Michael Duffy said, "Spoke to Rove on double super secret background for about two mins before he went on vacation..." Cooper said that Rove had warned him away from getting "too far out on Wilson," and then passed on Rove's statement that neither Vice President Dick Cheney nor CIA Director George Tenet had picked Wilson for the trip; "it was, KR said, wilson's wife, who apparently works at the agency on wmd issues who authorized the trip." Finally — all of this is according to the Newsweek report — Cooper's e-mail said that "not only the genesis of the trip is flawed an[d] suspect but so is the report. he [Rove] implied strongly that there's still plenty to implicate iraqi interest in acquiring uranium fro[m] Niger..."

I've said before - and I'll say it again - that something that doesn't break the law and used specifically to refute lies (both express and implied) of an administration foe is far from wrong. To call it immoral is beyond absurd.

I figured it's kind of a joke -- whether he stays or goes, he wins hands down.

What happens if not enough votes? ETA ah, he just gets the cash. So he's already made $10kish.

So they found the WMDs in Iraq?

Suppose that we take a prisoner in the war on terrorism, and later determine that he's innocent. But for whatever reason, we keep holding him. Shouldn't he be able to petition for a writ of habeas corpus?

I never said Rove "slipped up" I said he was asked and answered a question. Luskin, if you believe him, says exactly this.

For years now, the Dems (and Ty for that matter) have suggested that Rove, et. all, were shopping this story around to everyone and anyone that would listen. Ty said as much 2 days ago, even though it is clear this was not the case.
