That argument doesn't work.

Cops, the FBI, the military, etc. -- all are working to protect our citizens from harm all the time against all the threats.

At the same time we do put limits on what they can and can't do in pursuit of their task, and appropriately so.

Do you really want cops to have the legal right to give you The Belly Slap the next time you're stumbling drunkenly down the street at 2:00 a.m.?

I never said that.

P.S. I've been asked to inform you that, due to your repeated abuse of the privilege, you've lost the right to declare victory in an argument on this Board, or to keep score in any fashion.

Is that what we were talking about? Police actions within the US?

All this time, I thought we were we talking about Congressional clarification of allowable conduct during CIA interrogations on foreign soil of unmarked, un-uniformed terrorists from "armies" that are not signatories to the Geneva convention.

I don't think any of those rags have comics, Ann Landers or a sports page. Let alone Sedoku or a cross word puzzle.
What does Ann Landers think about this?

We were.

Maybe if I say it again for him slowly this time he will get it.

When it comes to domestic policing, we do restrict the police, even though it makes us less safe (from criminals any way), in order to protect our rights. We sacrifice some safety and protection to insure our liberty.

When we are talking about interrogation on foreign soil of unmarked un-uniformed terrorists our rights are never at issue. So there is no reason to restrict the interrogators to protect our rights. Restricting them so they can not do their job as effectively as possible does not help protect our rights or benefit us in anyway, where restricting them does put us at risk.

Hillary is out of the gate...........

If there was any of even the smallest inkling of a doubt that Hillary was going to run for President, it was put to rest last night. Bill said that "I don't know if Hillary will run but if she did run and win it would great for America".

this is a no brainer- which is why I kept asking them to show that it is of no use- now that they admit it probably is often useful, we can focus on the points you raise here. You're welcome.

The American people want terrorists tortured; they just don't want to know about it. They want factory farms too, but just don't want to know about the pain inflicted on farm animals.

The difference between Americans and terrorists is that Americans are ashamed about things like this, not that Americans don't want them done.

People eat up 24 because Jack Bauer tortures terrorists, and even innocent people -- whatever it takes -- to save lives.
