Has anyone read what the substance of the compromise was? I've not come across anything yet that explains it.

I saw that Senator from Texas (his name escapes me right now) explaining that the bill takes care of the CIA request that they be able to know exactly what the boundaries are, and then he read the language and it sounded incredibly vague. It didn't seem to me much better than the vague "geneva convention" language.
When pressed he said that they could not explain specifically what methods they were allowing because they didn't want Al Queda to know what methods were used. He did confirm what Ross from ABC reported that Waterboarding had been used on Mohammed (that fat guy in the T-shirt) effectively and seem to imply that the new language did not prevent future waterboarding.
But as usual I was more confused after he spoke than before he spoke.

“Conservatives love America like a child loves his mommy, and mommy can do no wrong. Whereas [liberals] love America like an adult loves someone… always working to appreciate what’s there, being critical of what’s wrong and trying to help and make it better.”

seriously, this makes sense to you? you are critical about what bugs you regarding, say your wife, and you try to "help" her change?
I actually would rather live under sharia then having you guys in charge. can you not think through anything?

This really doesn't seem fair. We hit Iran, and they hit Israel. I guess it is the same as Gulf War I, but those Israelis sure can't catch a break.

Even scarier when you realizre that that lunatic's speech at the UN was really just a veiled announcement of the coming of the "Hidden Imam" and the beginning of the apocalypse.
from Powerline:
"I emphatically declare that today's world more than ever before longs for just and righteous people with love for all humanity Muslims, and above all, longs for the perfect righteous human being and the real savior [Hidden Imam] who has been promised to all peoples and who will establish justice, peace and brotherhood [Islam] on the planet. Oh, Almighty God, all men and women are your creatures and you have ordained their guidance and salvation. Bestow upon humanity that thirsts for justice [Islam], the perfect human [Hidden Imam] being promised to all by you, and make us among his followers and among those who strive for his return and his cause.”

Look, if you want to draw out that analogy to Republican love and their antics over the years, that's your prerogative, but FWIW, that's just sick.

If you're comfortable with the first part of it -- with blind mommy-esque Republican love -- then, sure, I'm comfortable trying to explain the last part of the analogy to you.

first rule of construction is that ambiguities go against the drafter. One of your guys wrote it...supposedly the funniest of all you guys.
